From May 15 - 17, Phieng Khoai commune organized the 2026 Plum Festival with the theme "Phieng Khoai Hau Plum - Border Region Flavor", attracting a large number of people and tourists to participate.


The festival takes place with many unique cultural, sports and experiential activities such as plum picking contests, plum food contests, and national costume performances.


In addition, there are also cultural camp decoration competitions, presentation of fruit trays from hậu plums, cultural exchanges and folk games. The local agricultural product display space also attracts a large number of tourists to visit and experience.
Ms. Phan Thanh Thao, Chieng Coi ward (Son La), shared: "This is the first time I have participated in the festival and experienced picking plums in the garden. The atmosphere is very fun, people are friendly, plums are fresh and delicious, and the border landscape is very beautiful.


Phieng Khoai is a border commune bordering Laos, currently having more than 2,700ha of hậu plums, of which about 2,500ha are being harvested, with an output of 25,000 - 27,000 tons per crop.
In recent years, plum trees have become a key crop, contributing to increasing income for people and developing experiential tourism.


Within the framework of the festival, on the afternoon of May 15, in Phieng Khoai commune, Son La Provincial People's Committee coordinated with Vietnam Airlines and distribution systems to organize a departure ceremony to bring Son La post-harvest plums onto flights and into the retail system nationwide.
According to the plan, Son La selects 1 ton of hậu plums that meet the standards to serve meals on domestic and international flights of Vietnam Airlines. At the same time, the product is distributed at the WinCommerce, Saigon Co. op and GO! systems nationwide.


Mr. Nguyen Van Toan - Vice Chairman of Phieng Khoai Commune People's Committee said that the organization of the festival and promoting consumption linkages contributes to promoting the Phieng Khoai plum brand, while expanding the market, enhancing the value of local agricultural products and promoting sustainable tourism development in the border region.
