Meritorious Artist Kieu Minh Hieu - Director of the Vietnam Drama Theater - said that this year will be the last year for artists to organize the death anniversary of the Stage profession at address No. 1 Trang Tien, Hanoi.
Accordingly, on September 11, representatives of the Vietnam Drama Theater were invited to a meeting with functional agencies of Cua Nam ward (Hanoi) on the Hoan Kiem Lake urban space planning project, which includes the location of the Vietnam Drama Theater (No. 1 Trang Tien). After that, the site clearance agency went down to measure and report to superiors to prepare for a relocation plan.
The theater will move to 20 Hoang Quoc Viet after being rebuilt (expected to be completed in 2029).
The new construction of the Vietnam Drama Theater is also mentioned in the Planning of the network of cultural and sports facilities for the period 2021-2030, vision to 2045.
The Vietnam Drama Theater (formerly the Central Art Troupe) was established in 1952 in the Viet Bac war zone.
Before being approved to build facility 2, the Vietnam Drama Theater only had a theater of 182 seats (1st floor has 135 seats, 2nd floor has 47 seats). This number of seats is considered too few compared to the position of the theater. The modest theater is located at No. 1 Trang Tien, right behind the Hanoi Opera House.
In the golden age of the stage, the Hanoi Opera House was the performance venue of the Vietnam Drama Theater.
