This is not the first time the two fathers and sons have gone to the museum together. Since the child was only 6 years old, the father has turned the important holidays of the country into his own appointments. Every December 22nd, they are present at museums related to military affairs, standing in front of tanks and planes with bomb and bullet marks to hear about the steadfast history of the Vietnam People's Army. And when May knocks on the door, the destination cannot be other than the place to store memorabilia about the life of the elderly Father of the nation.
For a father, patriotism education for the younger generation has never been lectures through dry words in class. Gratitude must be touched, felt with intuition through each artifact stained with time.
Looking at his son running around the glass cabinet, attentively looking at Uncle Ho's worn rubber sandals and shoulder-worn khaki shirt, the father smiled slightly. He did not explain in big words. He only told his son about a great patriot, who spent his whole life wandering abroad, not enough to eat, not enough to dress, with only one aspiration: The country to be independent, people and compatriots to be free and happy.
You see, our country has the shape of peace and development as it is today thanks to such great sacrifices. Those who came before protected it with blood and tears, built it with sweat, your part is to preserve and move forward," the father standing next to his son, said slowly.
The trips are like an invisible string, connecting the heroic past with the peaceful present of the child. There, patriotism automatically permeates the innocent soul in the most natural way. The boy understands that freedom is not obvious and every inch of land under his feet has the shape of history.
Then father and son took each other's hands and left with eyes sparkling with pride. Perhaps one day, father will no longer lead son, but son will lead son of son, but the meaning is still the same over time. Gratitude and responsibility to the homeland are not just in one meaningful day like today (May 19).
