On July 2, within the framework of the 3rd Da Nang Asian Film Festival, Da Nang City organized a workshop with the theme "Imprints of Vietnamese war films from the day of national reunification".
At the workshop, domestic and foreign experts shared many presentations revolving around the real value of a war film; The role of women in war; talking about how soldiers, ordinary Vietnamese people have overcome the fierce challenges of war; or revolutionary war films in Vietnam after 1975: New dialogues with the past...
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi - Vice Chairman of Da Nang City People's Committee, war - with all the losses, sacrifices and aspirations for peace - is always a big topic in art, especially cinema. Since the day of national reunification, Vietnamese filmmakers have constantly researched and innovated the way of expressing to reflect war not only as a heroic poem, but also a humane journey, profound in Man, memories and reconciliation.
Works such as Wild Fields, Dong Loc Intersection or The Legend of Quan Tien not only leave an artistic mark, but are also realistic slices of history, contributing to nurturing patriotism, compassion and the desire to live in each generation of Vietnamese people.
The Workshop Imprints of Vietnamese War films from the date of National Reunification is a meaningful activity within the framework of the 3rd Da Nang Asian Film Festival in 2025, to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025) and the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).
The workshop is an opportunity to look back on the 50-year journey of Vietnamese war films after the day of national reunification - a journey full of passion, creativity and dedication. This is also an opportunity for managers, generations of artists, researchers and the public to exchange, evaluate and orient the future of this film genre in the new context - when cinema is not only art, but also an important cultural industry.
In particular, post-unity war films are not only historical documents, but also tools to educate patriotism and the heroic history of the nation. These films help young people understand the value of peace and the sacrifice of generations of ancestors.
Da Nang City always appreciates true artistic values. We will continue to create favorable conditions for film activities, especially in-depth programs like today, to be organized regularly, contributing to spreading cultural and historical values to domestic and international audiences, Ms. Thi emphasized.
