According to Box Office Vietnam, after a short time leading in revenue, "Cai Ma" has now fallen to the top 6 box office, although it still maintains about 700 screenings per day. The film was once a top choice for audiences on Halloween, when there were not many competitors of the same genre in the country.
However, the appearance of foreign films such as Invisible Monster, The Sea of ice games, Godzilla, the exception has caused both Cai Ma and The Golden Department of the Foreign Sea to lose their leading position.
At present, "Invisible Monster" is currently the top 1 box office in Vietnam with more than 2,100 screenings, with revenue alone on the morning of November 7 reaching over 200 million VND.
Followed by The return of the Galaxy (top 2, more than 1,300 screenings, revenue of about 100 million VND). The films "Love for a Doctor" and "Godzilla Except One" hold the top 3 and top 4 respectively. "The Golden Department of Foreign" is currently in the top 5 box office, but has cooled down compared to the first week of release.
Despite the advantage of screenings and familiar content, "The Golden Department of the Grandmother" is said to have not created a breakthrough, still revolving around familiar topics such as family conflicts, the affection between grandparents and grandchildren, and neighborhood affection.
With Cai Ma, despite being noticed for exploiting the burial customs that first appeared on Vietnamese screens and with the technical support of the Korean crew that made Exhuma: The Tomb of the Ghosts, the film is still controversial. The uneven acting and private scandal of the female lead Thien An are said to affect the media effect.
After a favorable start, both Vietnamese films now have to give up their "stage" to foreign blockbusters, showing fierce competition at the box office at the end of the year.
