On June 10, Mr. Pham Hong Thai - Director of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park said that the unit had registered to participate in the 2025 World Travel Awards (WTA) with 2 nominations: "Vietnam's Leading Natural Destination 2025" and "Asia's Leading National Park".
The WTA is considered a prestigious award for the global tourism industry, established in 1993 and known as the "Oscar of the tourism industry". The annual award aims to honor outstanding destinations, service providers and excellent management units in the tourism and travel sector. 2025 is the 31st time the tournament has been held, with an online voting system open until August 31, for tourists and experts and managers in the industry.
According to the representative of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park Management Board, participating in WTA not only contributes to promoting the image of the world natural heritage but is also an opportunity to affirm the position of Quang Binh tourism on the regional and international map.
Phong Nha - Ke Bang is one of the largest and most unique conservation areas in Vietnam, located in Bo Trach and Minh Hoa districts, about 50km from Dong Hoi city. With an area of about 201,000 hectares, this place owns hundreds of caves and an ecosystem endemic to the Bac Truong Son limestone mountain area. Notably, the cave system is more than 80km long, of which 20km has been surveyed. Phong Nha - Ke Bang has been recognized by UNESCO as a World Natural Heritage twice, first in 2003 with geological and geosphatic criteria and second in 2015 with biodiversity criteria.
