On the occasion of the National Day holiday on September 2, audiences spent time watching movies and entertainment at high efficiency. In particular, Vietnamese films dominate the market share of theatrical screenings.
According to Box Office Vietnam, the film "Red Rain" is currently occupying the top 1 box office in Vietnam with more than 5,300 screenings. As of August 31 alone (up to now), the film has earned about 38 billion VND. Currently, the film's total revenue is over 322 billion VND. This is the second Vietnamese film project to surpass the 300 billion VND mark in 2025 (previously, Tran Thanh's "The Four Guardians" released on the occasion of Tet 2025.
The project, when released, surpassed other outstanding works such as two foreign animated films Youth of the Monkey King and Shin - the Pencil Boy.
"Red Rain" is based on the famous novel by writer Chu Lai. The film exploits the fierce battle scene at Quang Tri ancient citadel in 1972 - the place that marked one of the most tragic battles of the nation.
The film recreates the fierce atmosphere when tens of thousands of young soldiers have to fight in extremely difficult conditions, blood mixed with bombs and bullets. The content not only reflects the brutal scale of the war, but also focuses on depicting the fate, feelings, struggles and aspirations for life of the soldiers.
With the spirit of loyalty to literary original works, Red Rain promotes human values, praises immortal sacrifice but still puts people at the center, to see them as both simple and extraordinary in historical moments.
This film is considered one of the Vietnamese war films of great scale, both epic and rich in personal emotions, depicting a tragic period of national history.
After its release, the film received many positive responses from experts and audiences. Many people who watched the early screening were moved, considering this a project worth watching at a time when the country is preparing to celebrate National Day on September 2.
Another Vietnamese film that is also selling well in theaters is Getting Rich with Ghosts 2. The film has more than 1,800 screenings with a revenue on August 31 (up to now) of more than 4 billion VND. The total revenue of the film reached more than 24 billion VND.
Currently, another film that is also in theaters is Mom Go Go Go Go. This is a collaboration between Vietnamese and Korean cinema - which has dropped to 8th place at the box office. However, after the broadcast time, the film brought in a total revenue of nearly 170 billion VND.
At the present time, foreign blockbusters are almost at a disadvantage. "Thanh Hoom Doi Than Quy" is ranked in the top 3 at the Vietnamese box office, currently earning a total of 130 billion VND.
Quy Kiet 2 Party Bang earned more than 4.7 billion VND and ranked 4th at the Vietnamese box office.
