Hai Phong - Royal Dutch Navy ship has many exchange activities on sports and culture in Hai Phong City.

On May 30, within the framework of the friendly visit to Hai Phong city by the Royal Dutch Navy ship HNLMS De Ruyter, the Netherlands - Hai Phong Friendship Cycling program took place sôi nổi in the area of the City Opera House square.

The program was attended by Mr. Kees van Baar, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Vietnam; Rear Admiral Jeanette Morang; Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Van Quan and a large number of local people and crew members participating in the event.

According to Vice Chairman of the People's Committee Tran Van Quan, Hai Phong and the Netherlands have many similarities as both are land associated with the sea, possessing a dynamic seaport system and an open spirit, oriented towards the world.

Cycling activities through the central streets of the city have become a bridge connecting and sharing between the two cultures. The image of a long convoy carrying a strong message about a green, dynamic and friendly lifestyle, thereby continuing to cultivate friendship, understanding and towards the goal of sustainable development between the people of the two countries. The enthusiastic response of international guests and a large number of Hai Phong people has created an open exchange space, leaving many good impressions.

Previously, the cultural exchange series also organized the screening of the historical film "Admiral - Michiel de Ruyter" - a magnificent film introducing the great life of the legendary admiral whose ship was named, honoring the common maritime heritage, helping audiences to deeply understand the history, culture and resilient seafaring tradition of the Netherlands.

Previously, on the afternoon of May 29, Chairman of the City People's Committee Do Thanh Trung chaired a reception and working session with Rear Admiral Jeanette Morang, Head of the Royal Dutch Navy working delegation, and Mr. Kees van Baar, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Vietnam to pay a courtesy visit on the occasion of the friendly visit of the HNLMS De Ruyter.

At the reception, Chairman of the City People's Committee Do Thanh Trung expressed his pleasure to welcome Ambassador Kees van Baar, Rear Admiral Jeanette Morang and the working delegation and crew to visit the Port City. Affirming that the visit of the ship HNLMS De Ruyter is a vivid proof of the increasingly deep partnership, city leaders and Rear Admiral Jeanette Morang spent time exchanging openly about the prospects of bilateral maritime cooperation...

The official welcoming ceremony for the Royal Dutch Navy ship HNLMS De Ruyter was solemnly held at Tan Vu Port. The visit to Hai Phong city from May 29 to June 1, 2026 is an important part of the global deployment campaign named Pacific Archer 2026 of the Dutch Navy.

A series of rich people-to-people, cultural and sports exchange activities contribute to making the visit of the HNLMS De Ruyter more lively, narrowing the distance, bringing the good cooperative relationship between Vietnam and the Netherlands into depth, and strengthening closer ties from the level of state diplomacy to the feelings of the people of the two countries.
