On August 25, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism (DTC) of Gia Lai province coordinated with the Vietnam Academy of Sciences and Social Sciences (VKS) to organize a scientific conference to research, preserve and promote the value of Truong Luy relic.
Truong Luy is a structure made of soil and stone, 127.4km long, stretching from Quang Ngai to Gia Lai, located along the eastern part of Truong Son range at an altitude of 400-800m. The project has many historical, military and architectural values, but also reflects the cultural - social intersection and demonstrates the ancient community intersection...

In June 2025, the Gia Lai Provincial Museum and the Southern Institute of Social Affairs conducted a survey and excavation at locations in the bunch such as Station H4, Dong Ham, An Quang (200m2). The results of the discovery of foundations, culverts, architectural works and many ceramic, civil, metal artifacts... show that construction techniques that both take advantage of local materials and have defensive cages and roads adapted to the terrain.
At the workshop, Dr. Nguyen Khanh Trung Kien - Deputy Director of the Southern Institute of Social Affairs - emphasized that Truong Luy is not only an ancient citadel but also a unique "complex heritage" in terms of military, economy, culture and ethnology.

Currently, Truong Luy still has many architectural forms and quite intact material structures. According to historical documents, the Nguyen Dynasty once arranged 115 posts/guards along the flood route, guarded by court soldiers; of which 4 were large, most notably the Fourth posts (now in La Vuong village, Hoai Nhon Bac commune, Gia Lai province).
At the workshop, many experts compared Truong Luy to the "Van Ly Truong Thanh" of the Central region, both as a military defense line and a space for trade and cultural - social exchange between ethnic groups and regions.
Scientists believe that Truong Luy is a special heritage with many values, and need to soon prepare a dossier for the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to consider ranking it as a special National Monument. Currently, many relic items are gradually deteriorating, some locations have been encroached upon by people for agricultural production, posing a potential risk of deformation and damage to the relic. Therefore, it is necessary to soon determine the status of worthy status of this heritage.
At the workshop, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Lich - Vice Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee - suggested that scientists continue to support localities in fully, synchronously and inter-regionalally researching this heritage.
"In the immediate future, it is necessary to soon set up markers and protect the area to avoid damage from production activities. The province will receive expert opinions to quickly complete the dossier, submit to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism a proposal to rank Truong Luy as a Special National Monument", Ms. Lich said.
