On November 24, the Press Department (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) organized a training course on effective digital transformation models of the press.
Sharing at the program, journalist Tran Tien Duan - Editor-in-Chief of VietnamPlus Electronic Newspaper - Vietnam News Agency - proposed solutions to help editors adapt to the digital age, enhance the reader experience and make the most of modern press platforms.
The inevitable trend of modern journalism
Rapid changes in technology and social networks force news agencies to adapt. According to journalist Tran Tien Duan, the court of discussion is not only a trend but also a mandatory requirement.
This model focuses on unifying thinking, production processes, technology and content distribution, while simultaneously producing on many platforms: printing, electronics, radio, television and social networks. A press story today does not only have one version but is optimized for each platform, from video, audio, graphics to interactive products...

The convergence model brings many values: expanding reach, enhancing the experience of getting into character, evoking emotions and creating strong empathy for the character and the story. Long, complex content is transformed into visual, easy-to-understand formats, helping readers explore the story in their own way.
At the same time, the multi-platform production process is accelerated, interaction and user experience are enhanced, while reader reactions and trends are monitored to adjust content in a timely manner.
However, this model still has many challenges. Accordingly, some versions of electronic newspapers are still like "paper on the Internet". Many press agencies have not kept up with the media production process, there are still few multi-functional reporters, multi-platform programming and content management skills are not popular... Multimedia production, interaction and centralized management tools on digital platforms have not been fully deployed.
At the training session, Mr. Tran Tien Duan introduced and analyzed a number of drafting committee models in Vietnam to have the most intuitive view of the strengths, weaknesses and practical applications of the current converged, multi-platform drafting committee.
Effective solutions to build a converged, multi-platform newspaper
To successfully implement the convergence model, newsrooms need to standardize the production process from collection, scriptwriting, editing to publishing on all platforms. The role and responsibility of each member must be clearly defined: a versatile reporter can write, film, record, create videos, edit; the leadership of the newsroom must be a pioneer with a multi-medium, multi-platform mindset right from the planning stage.
Technology and digital platforms support the implementation of the gathering gathering center more and more conveniently, without the need for too many specialized developers or web designers. Artificial Intelligence is applied to transfer messages to video and audio formats, photo edits, data summarization and analysis, while personalizing content according to readers' interests and behavior.
In addition, creative and interactive products such as VR/AR, storytelling (story-telling art) using images, data and immersive experience help readers participate directly in the story, creating deeper cohesion. The press economic model is also diversified through content advertising, event organization, specialized digital products and positive information coverage on social networks.
The leadership of the drafting court must have a multi-medium, multi-platform mindset right from the planning stage, must clearly define how to tell the same story on different platforms: Radio, television, digital environment, said Mr. Tran Tien Duan.
He emphasized: A creative, friendly, interesting and interactive publishing house will bring public satisfaction, retain loyal readers and expand readers.
This is an important orientation for digital journalism to continue to develop, meeting the diverse needs and new information consumption habits of readers.
