Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Huynh Thanh Xuan attended and presented support.

At the program, 62 members and employees of Duc Toan Company Limited received support of VND2 million/person, from the budget of VND1 billion of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.
On this occasion, the Hai Phong City Labor Federation supported 200 million VND, and the Bac Ninh Provincial Labor Federation supported 150 million VND. Immediately after the program, the Gia Lai Provincial Federation of Labor continued to receive an additional 200 million VND in support from the Da Nang City Federation of Labor and contributions from many other units.

Receiving the support sources, Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy - Permanent Vice President of the Gia Lai Provincial Federation of Labor - expressed her sincere thanks to the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the other provincial Federations of Labor and Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Huynh Thanh Xuan.
"The Standing Committee of the Provincial Federation of Labor is committed to distributing and supporting the right subjects, for the right purposes, transparently, ensuring that each gift reaches union members and employees affected by storms and floods as soon as possible," Ms. Thuy affirmed.

According to Ms. Thuy, in a short time, Gia Lai has been continuously affected by storm No. 13 and the historic flood, causing heavy damage to people and property, directly affecting many units and employees. In difficult times, timely attention and support from the Central Government, organizations and localities across the country, including the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, have provided additional resources for workers to soon stabilize their lives.
Economy exhausted after 2 historic natural disasters
Storm No. 13 and the recent historic flood swept through many localities in the east of Gia Lai province, causing economic damage of more than VND6,000 billion, severely affecting tens of thousands of people, including many union members and workers.

Before they can recover from the storm, they have to face floods, causing both property and spiritual damage. Ms. Nguyen Thi Gai (67 years old, residing in Tuy Phuoc Tay commune) - a worker at Duc Toan Company Limited - shared: "There has never been a big flood, all the furniture in the house was sunk, completely damaged. Half a month ago, a fierce storm swept away the entire corrugated iron roof, and after the roof was just roofed, the flood submerged the furniture. Receiving support from the Union, I am very happy, this amount of money helps me overcome some of the current difficulties".
Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhi (residing in Quy Nhon Bac ward) - a worker at the same company - sadly said that her house was completely damaged, and her family's economy was exhausted after 2 consecutive natural disasters. Her husband was seriously injured in the storm and is currently undergoing surgery in Ho Chi Minh City, making his already difficult life even more difficult.

"In times of danger, with the help of the people and benefactors, and now the timely attention and support of the Trade Union organization, I can only express my gratitude from the bottom of my heart. Without this cooperation, I don't know how to get up," said Ms. Nhi.
Helping workers stand up after storms and floods
Along with the support gifts, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Huynh Thanh Xuan, on behalf of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, expressed his deep condolences to the government, people and all units and employees of Gia Lai province for the losses and damages caused by storms and floods.

The recent historic flood caused serious damage to people's property, the local economy, especially businesses and production facilities, as well as directly affected the jobs and income of workers.
Faced with the urgent difficult situation, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor has implemented emergency support activities, contributing to the locality and businesses to overcome the consequences, helping cadres, union members, employees and people soon stabilize their lives.

"Today's gifts demonstrate the responsibility and affection of the Trade Union organization, in order to promptly encourage and share difficulties, help union members and employees to quickly overcome the damage, stabilize their lives and return to work, support businesses to resume the production chain," said Mr. Huynh Thanh Xuan.
Mr. Huynh Thanh Xuan also expressed his grief at witnessing a series of houses, works, factories... being destroyed by floods; at the same time, he acknowledged and praised the proactiveness of the Gia Lai Provincial Federation of Labor and all levels, sectors and localities in promptly supporting workers, civil servants and employees to overcome difficulties.
