Artist Van Dung and People's Artist Xuan Bac have been associated with the program Tao Quan - Meet at the end of the year since the first episodes aired in 2003. Before that, both of them participated in comedy skits and participated in Meet at the end of the week.
Meet at the Weekend is a comedy show that has been on air since 2000, the show gathers actors from many theaters and drama troupes. At that time, artist Van Dung was a member of the Youth Theater, participating in Meet at the Weekend with actors such as Xuan Bac (Vietnam Drama Theater), Cong Ly (Hanoi Drama Theater), Quang Thang (Hai Phong Drama Troupe), Chi Trung (Youth Theater)...
The artists who were with Meet at the Weekend until the show stopped airing, and continued to accompany Tao Quan - Meet at the End of the Year throughout its 20-year journey on air. As People's Artist Tu Long said, they went through their youth together, becoming veteran artists, and iconic faces for each role in Tao Quan.
Van Dung has played many different Tao roles over the years, but she is most closely associated with the image of Tao Y te. Meanwhile, Xuan Bac has become an artist who is synonymous with the role of Nam Tao.
In a conversation with Lao Dong reporter, People's Artist Xuan Bac affirmed that he was lucky to perform with a group of artists who understood each other, were close-knit and united like in Tao Quan. People's Artist Xuan Bac highly appreciated the talents of Meritorious Artist Chi Trung, People's Artist Cong Ly... artists Quang Thang, Van Dung.
“Each of us has our own color, complementing and connecting with each other. Most importantly, after a long journey together, we are now like a family” – People’s Artist Xuan Bac said.
In the 2000s, when they participated in Weekend Meeting and Tao Quan, artists like Xuan Bac and Van Dung were just over 20 years old. They were young, energetic, enthusiastic and devoted to each role.
People's Artist Xuan Bac was born in 1976, artist Van Dung was born in 1975. In a conversation with Lao Dong reporter, artist Van Dung said that People's Artist Xuan Bac is a talented, intelligent, talkative, quick-witted artist with deep and creative acting.
Performing together from youth to adulthood, Van Dung believes that she and the Tao Quan artists such as Xuan Bac, Tu Long, Quang Thang, and Chi Trung have a thorough understanding of each other, they easily juggle and act in harmony with each other in every line and performance.
“We are truly a family. There have been so many memories, so many bonds and closeness, that even now if I wanted to sit down and tell them, I still couldn’t put them all into words,” said Van Dung.
From November 1, 2024, People's Artist Xuan Bac, from the position of Director of the Vietnam Drama Theater, has been appointed to the position of Director of the Department of Performing Arts (D&C), under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Artist Van Dung said she was very proud when People's Artist Xuan Bac was appointed as Director of the Department of Arts and Performance. Artist Van Dung affirmed, "Xuan Bac is talented, I have great faith in him. I wish him good health to complete his tasks, to do more, and to be more successful in his new position."
