On August 11, 2025 in Seoul, within the framework of General Secretary To Lam's State visit to Korea, Vietnamese Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung and Korean Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Chae Hwi-Young co-chaired the "Vietnam - Korea Forum on cooperation in developing cultural industries".

The event was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam Bui Thanh Son and representatives of management agencies, experts, and leading enterprises in the field of creative cultural industries of the two countries.
Minister Nguyen Van Hung emphasized that the cultural industry is a strategic driving force, both boosting the economy and promoting the national image.
Vietnam owns a rich cultural treasure trove, a population of nearly 100 million people and a creative young human resource - the foundation for building a modern, internationally recognized and competitive cultural industry.
The seminar aims to share experiences, orient policies, seek opportunities for cooperation in the production of high-quality cultural products, contributing to the realization of the goal of having the cultural industry contribute 7% of GDP by 2030.

Minister Chae Hwi-Young affirmed that this is a favorable time to elevate cultural cooperation. Korea aims to achieve a K-culture market size of 300,000 billion won by 2030, and a cultural export of 50,000 billion won.
Mr. Kim Hyun Jun - Director of the Department of International Cultural Policy - introduced the situation and development orientation of K- Content, with revenue in 2023 reaching 154.2 trillion won, exports of 13.34 billion USD.
Korea will increase policy finance, invest in research and development in three core areas (performance, video, games), expand international markets and promote cooperation between content and other industries.
On the Vietnamese side, Mr. Tran Hoang - Director of the copyright Department - reported on the policy of developing the cultural industry, the results of cooperation with Korea in music, cinema, fashion, games and copyright.
Mr. Tran Hoang proposed 5 cooperation orientations: sharing policy experiences, promoting common products, cooperating in developing markets and products, enhancing business connections and investment, promoting training and human resource exchange.
Representatives of enterprises of the two countries such as HYBE, Krafton, Carriesoft (Korea) and BHD, DatViet VAC, YeaH1 (Vietnam) shared their experiences in co-producing, training artists, developing a unique animation industry, cooperating in education, building a common technology platform, co-producing and distributing games, E-sport.
Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son highly appreciated the cooperation content, especially the experience of creating creative startup policies and connecting businesses - artists - communication technology, considering this a valuable source of reference for Vietnam.
The Deputy Prime Minister believes that the agreements will soon be concretized into practical programs and projects, contributing to expanding the market, improving competitiveness and spreading Vietnam - Korea cultural values to the region and the world.

The Vietnamese Government is committed to creating favorable conditions for implementing initiatives, encouraging the business community and creative organizations to actively participate.
Within the framework of the event, a cooperation document exchange ceremony was held, promising to open a new development stage for cultural enterprises of the two countries.
Korea and Vietnam have had many effective cooperation activities. Cultural relations between the two countries were built from the 1994 Cultural Cooperation Agreement, followed by cultural MO Us for the 2023-2025 period and tourism promotion for 2025-2026.
Korea is currently Vietnam's largest tourist sending market, while Vietnam is a leading destination for Korean tourists in ASEAN. In sports, Korean experts and businesses have made many contributions to Vietnam.
