Construction of Canh Dieu mountain forestry to restore and preserve national historical relics

NGUYỄN TRƯỜNG |

Ninh Binh - The Department of Culture and Sports of Ninh Binh province is planning to build Canh Dieu mountain rangers to restore and preserve the National Historical Site of Canh Dieu mountain.

Lao Dong Newspaper has reported that the National Historical Site of Canh Dieu Mountain (in Hoa Lu City, Ninh Binh) is deteriorating and gradually being forgotten due to lack of attention and investment for restoration and conservation.

Speaking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Truong - Head of the Department of Cultural Heritage Management, Department of Culture and Sports of Ninh Binh province said that recently, the Department of Culture and Sports of Ninh Binh province has coordinated with relevant units and local authorities to re-set up the boundary to protect the relic in order to preserve and promote its value.

"According to the survey, there are no longer stone steles or poems composed by kings, lords, and poets on the cliff or mountain, due to being blown up by mines during the resistance war" - Mr. Truong said.

According to Mr. Truong, the Canh Dieu mountain relic has been ranked at the national level since 1962. Because the relic was ranked a long time ago, before the promulgation of the Law on Cultural Heritage and regulations on the dossier for ranking relics, the dossier components have not met current regulations.

Facing the need to preserve and promote the value of cultural heritage in the current period, based on the actual situation and the provisions of the law on cultural heritage, the People's Committee of Ninh Binh province has directed the Department of Culture and Sports to coordinate with Hoa Lu City People's Committee to review and supplement the components of the Nui Kite Monument to ensure regulations. At the same time, in order to perform well the management, conservation and promotion of the value of monuments.

The People's Committee of Ninh Binh province has also issued a document requesting the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to consider adding a relic dossier as a basis for planning policies for the preservation and promotion of relic values, as a legal basis for long-term protection of relics.

"According to the general planning of Ninh Binh urban area until 2040 approved by the Prime Minister, the Canh Dieu mountain area is planned to build forestry. Currently, the Department of Culture and Sports of Ninh Binh province is preparing a plan to submit to the competent authority for approval. However, because the Canh Dieu mountain relic is located close to the Ninh Binh Thermal Power Plant, planning is facing difficulties and problems" - Mr. Truong said.

Previously, Lao Dong Electronic published an article "Forgetting National Historical Site in the Heart of Hoa Lu City", reflecting the National Historical Site of Canh Dieu Mountain located in Van Giang Ward (Hoa Lu City, Ninh Binh Province) - known as the "four great mountains" of Hoa Lu City. The mountain has a shape, location, and beautiful natural landscape, and has long been considered a famous scenic spot of the ancient capital of Hoa Lu.

Not only has beautiful natural scenery, Canh Dieu Mountain is also a place that marks the heroic historical mark of Ninh Binh's army and people in the resistance wars against French colonialism and American imperialism. With many historical and cultural values, Canh Dieu mountain was ranked as a national scenic relic by the Ministry of Culture and Information (now the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) in 1962.

However, after many ups and downs and being affected by war, over time, the national relic of Canh Dieu mountain is gradually being forgotten due to lack of investment, restoration, and embellishment.
