Previously, on July 18, 2024, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 694/QD-TTg on the classification of special national relics (phase 15) for 3 relics, including Vinh Hung archaeological relic.
Vinh Hung Archaeological Site is located in Vinh Hung A Commune, Vinh Loi District, Bac Lieu Province. This relic has existed for thousands of years, from around the 4th century to the 8th century. This is the only remaining architectural work of the Oc Eo culture in the South, a famous place that attracts many tourists from near and far.

The special thing is that at this monument, archaeologists find a lot of valuable relics and antiques. Among these artifacts, there are 5 antiques recognized by the Prime Minister: the statue of the goddess Laksmi, the statue of Sada Shiva, the head of the god Shiva, the male god and the relief of the goddess Uma. All of the above treasures are the original artifacts found in archaeological excavations in Vinh Hung tower.

In the coming time, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism will advise the Provincial People's Committee to develop a plan to protect Vinh Hung archaeological relic through restoration and restoration activities; develop a comprehensive archaeological plan to submit to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism for consideration to continue collecting valuable relics, antiques, and historical information of the Oc Eo culture to serve the work of educating, historical, cultural and tourism development of the province.
According to documents of the Bac Lieu Provincial Monuments Management Board, Vinh Hung Tower dates back to the 4th century and was renovated in many stages afterwards (from the 4th century to the 13th century) under the culture of Oc Eo and post-Oc Eo.

Vinh Hung Tower has a fairly large area and was built over 10m high. The tower is square, with front and rear corners broken, and has 3 symmetrical corners broken in both the front and rear.
Unlike the Champa tower in Central Vietnam, Vinh Hung tower is not built with breeze, pillars, or columns, there are no traces of decorative patterns outside or in front of the tower, and there are no fake doors on the back and sides.

Vinh Hung Archaeological Site, including Vinh Hung Ancient Tower, is being included in the province's tourist destination by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Bac Lieu province.
