The concert in memory of People's Teacher, pianist Thai Thi Lien will be held at 7:30 p.m. on December 28 at the Vietnam National Academy of Music (Hanoi) with the participation of lecturers and artists of the Piano Department of the Vietnam Academy of Music, representing generations of lecturers and students of the department.
In particular, part II of the music night will be a special gift from People's Artist Dang Thai Son to his mother with her favorite songs.
People's Teacher Thai Thi Lien is known as one of the 7 founders of the Vietnam Music School (now the Vietnam National Academy of Music), the first and longest-serving head teacher of the Piano department of the school.

As a great tree of piano artists, People's Artist Thai Thi Lien's life is an example in training and performing activities. She has 2 "special" students in her life, namely People's Artist Dang Thai Son and Professor. Dr. People's Artist Tran Thu Ha - former Head of Piano Department, former Director of the Academy of Music, Hero of Labor in the Renovation Period.
She also has a son, architect Tran Thanh Binh, who, although not pursuing a musical career, still left his mark at the Academy of Music as an architect, author of the design of the entire new facility and the Modern Concert Hall.
Prof. Dr. People's Teacher Tran Thu Ha shared that her mother - People's Teacher Thai Thi Lien's life always had two aspirations: to take care of and educate the next generation of piano students and to build facilities for the School of Music.
People's Teacher Thai Thi Lien was born on August 4, 1918 into a prestigious intellectual family in Saigon. Her father was engineer Thai Van Lan, one of the first Vietnamese engineers to graduate in France.

In 1951, she graduated with honors from Professor Ema Dolezalova's class with a large recital program that included works by D. Scarlatti, J. S. Bach, L. V. Beethoven and B. Smetana.
In addition to her teaching career, she has been constantly active in performing. She was the first to perform recitals in Hanoi in the late 1950s, and participated in concerts with experts from the former Soviet Union such as Professor Khodjaev (violin) and Fedoshenko (violin cello) at the Hanoi and Hai Phong Opera Houses.
Since the early 1980s, People's Artist Thai Thi Lien has accompanied and shared with her famous son a life full of travel, from Europe, Asia, and America. At the end of 2013, she returned to live in Hanoi, gathering with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She passed away on January 31, 2023, and according to her will, People's Artist Dang Thai Son bid farewell to his mother with the music "Funeral March" by Ferederic Chopin.
