Launching the 4th National Press Award "For the Cause of Vietnamese Culture Development

On the morning of August 12, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism launched the 4th National Press Award "For the Cause of Vietnamese Culture Development" - 2026.

The award is co-organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, to recognize and honor the contributions of journalists to the cause of Vietnamese cultural development.

The content of entries focuses on reflecting the implementation of guidelines and policies on cultural development, including Resolution No. 80-NQ/TW dated January 7, 2026 of the Politburo on the development of Vietnamese culture; the work of building and perfecting institutions, mechanisms, and policies to unlock resources for cultural, sports and tourism development.

The works can explore many issues such as preserving and promoting heritage values; developing the cultural industry; digital transformation; building a healthy cultural environment in cyberspace; reading culture; achievements of Vietnamese sports; the imprint of Vietnamese tourism and building family culture. The Organizing Committee also encourages works that point out difficulties, obstacles, and inadequacies in mechanisms, policies and propose innovative solutions.

Mr. Nguyen Anh Vu - Editor-in-Chief of Van Hoa Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee of the Award, said that one of the new points of the fourth season of the Award is that the prize structure is adjusted in the direction of reducing the quantity, improving the quality and value of honoring. The Organizing Committee adds a Special Award for the best work selected from 5 types of journalism, worth 100 million VND and a trip.

In each type of journalism, the prize structure includes 1 First Prize, 2 Second Prizes, 3 Third Prizes and 5 Consolation Prizes. The First Prize is worth 50 million VND with a trip; Second Prize 25 million VND; Third Prize 15 million VND and Consolation Prize 10 million VND.

In addition, the Organizing Committee awarded 3 Group prizes of equal rank to press agencies that actively participated and had outstanding achievements. The regulations also supplemented the "Vietnamese Inspiration" award for press agencies, social media channels, and individuals with artistic and media products that create a strong spreading effect, contributing to promoting Vietnamese cultural values.

The types of entries include print newspapers, electronic newspapers, radio, television and press photos. The work must be published and broadcast for the first time from August 1, 2025 to the end of August 31, 2026. Each work or series of works does not exceed 5 installments; each radio and television program does not exceed 90 minutes; photo groups or photo reports do not exceed 10 photos.

In the context of AI increasingly deeply impacting journalistic activities, the Award regulations stipulate that works must ensure authenticity, reflect real people, real events, real events; accurate, objective, detective, persuasive and socially effective.

The Organizing Committee does not consider works created entirely by AI. Content using AI at a significant level must be labeled or notified appropriately. Specifically for press photos, photos created by AI, photos intervened by AI or technical processing that changes the content and nature of events are not accepted.

Participating works must also ensure no disputes, no copyright infringement. Works that have won the National Press Award are not allowed to participate in the Award.

The summary and award ceremony is expected to be held in Hanoi on the occasion of Vietnam Culture Day, November 24, 2020.
