On the evening of November 2, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with the People's Committee of Lang Son province to organize the opening ceremony of the 11th Northeast Ethnic Culture, Sports and Tourism Festival in 2024.
Attending the program were Mr. Do Van Chien - Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; Mr. Nguyen Van Hung - Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
In addition, there were also leaders of ministries, departments, central and local branches, neighboring provinces and international friends.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Van Hung - Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism - said that the Northeast region has a particularly important strategic position in terms of politics, economy and national security and defense of our country. This is also the place where ethnic minorities live with a rich and diverse cultural treasure associated with the heroic struggle to build and defend the country of the Vietnamese people.
Following the success of the 10 previous festivals, the 11th Northeast Ethnic Culture, Sports and Tourism Festival in 2024 will take place from November 2-4 in Lang Son province with many attractive programs, contributing to introducing and promoting the traditional cultural values of the Northeast ethnic groups to domestic and international friends.
Mr. Ho Tien Thieu - Chairman of Lang Son Provincial People's Committee - shared that Lang Son province is a "fence" land, the northeastern gateway to the northernmost part of the country.
Throughout history, Lang Son culture was formed and developed diversely, associated with two ancient cultures including "Mai Pha Culture" and "Bac Son Culture", considered one of the "cradles" of the ancient Vietnamese people.
"During the process of national construction and defense, the ethnic people of Lang Son province, together with the whole country, fought bravely and steadfastly to protect independence with glorious victories.
In recent years, along with paying attention to socio-economic development, Lang Son province has always focused on preserving and promoting historical and traditional cultural values associated with tourism development..." - said the leader of Lang Son Provincial People's Committee.
At the program, Mr. Do Van Chien - Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front - presented certificates of merit from the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front to 8 delegations participating in the festival.
