On the occasion of the 136th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birth (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2026) and the 67th anniversary of Ho Chi Minh Trail Opening Day - Traditional Day of Truong Son Soldiers (May 19, 1959 - May 19, 2026), the Vietnam Film Institute organizes a specialized film screening program "Truong Son - Unforgettable Years" from May 19 to 21 at Ngoc Khanh Cinema (No. 523 Kim Ma Street, Giang Vo, Hanoi).
Three revolutionary war-themed films including "From a Forest", "Red Dawn" and "The Legend of Quan Tien" will be screened for free to serve audiences.

The program is organized to commemorate and express gratitude for the sacrifices and contributions of previous generations in the anti-American resistance war for national salvation, and at the same time spread patriotism and national traditional values to the public. Through film works, images of Truong Son soldiers, youth volunteers and frontline civilians appear truthfully and emotionally in the years of fierce war.
Opening the film screening series at 9 am on May 19th is the work "From a Forest", produced by Vietnam Feature Film Studio in 1978. The film by director Duc Hoan, with a script written by Xuan Thieu and Duc Hoan, recreates the spirit of dedication of young people participating in the youth volunteer force in wartime.
At 9 am on May 20, audiences will enjoy "Red Dawn" - a work directed by Nguyen Thanh Van and Tran Chi Thanh, written by Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet. The film won the Silver Kite award for the 20th time and the jury award at the 21st Vietnam Film Festival. The work depicts the courage of female soldiers driving on the Truong Son route.
Closing the program on the morning of May 21st was the movie "The Legend of Quan Tien" directed by Dinh Tuan Vu. The film won the Silver Lotus award at the 21st Vietnam Film Festival and the Silver Kite award in 2019. The work revolves around the lives of female volunteers on the battlefield, with very ordinary dreams and aspirations amidst bombs and bullets.
In addition, the National Cinema Center (No. 87 Lang Ha, O Cho Dua ward, Hanoi) also organizes a film campaign to celebrate major holidays in 2026 with many outstanding historical and documentary films such as "Địa đạo: Mặt trời trong bóng tối", "Giải phóng Sài Gòn", "Ký ức Điện Biên", "Hai chiến tuyến", "Theo dấu chân cha"...
The screenings take place on May 16 and May 19 at 9:30 am and 7:30 pm. Tickets are distributed free of charge at the ticket counter of the National Cinema Center, each audience member receives a maximum of 4 tickets for the entire film series.
Through works rich in historical and artistic values, the program contributes to helping the public, especially young audiences, understand more about the heroic periods of the nation as well as appreciate the historical and cultural values preserved through cinema.
