Visitors can clearly feel the elaborateness, sophistication, and meticulousness in front of a museum honoring the quintessence of the pottery craft of our ancestors from the architecture that evokes the shapes of the "pottery claw" wheel blocks and ancient Bat Trang ceramic vases of the past. The formation and development process of the pottery village, the model and operation of the pottery kilns through many historical periods, to the pottery making tools, glaze samples... and the collections, ceramic products of painters and artisans are vividly displayed here.
In addition, visitors also have the opportunity to experience pottery in a traditional space with talented craftsmen. In particular, there is a space - a floor - dedicated to the art of Light Sculpture to tell historical and cultural stories, an idea of artist Bui Van Tu, born in 1992.
14 works about 14 national heroes from the Hung Kings, Hai Ba Trung to King Ly Nam De, Buddha Emperor Tran Nhan Tong, and finally President Ho Chi Minh. In which, the work "Proud of Vietnam" uses the technique of image transfer, moving and transforming images on wooden blocks to create the works behind. The first is the image of the golden hammer and sickle printed on the Party flag, then the five-pointed golden star and finally the portrait of President Ho Chi Minh reading the Declaration of Independence giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.
All the sculptures here are made of silk wood, originating from the saying: “Humans have ancestors, like trees have roots, like rivers have sources”, which artist Bui Van Tu used tree roots to tell the historical origin of the nation. In which, the history of the formation and development of pottery is also closely linked to the historical stages of the nation.
