Dong Thap Electronic Information Portal reported that the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism (VHTTDL) held a meeting to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Cultural Sector (August 28, 1945 - August 28, 2025) on the afternoon of August 25.
Attending the meeting were Mr. Huynh Minh Tuan - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Nguyen Thanh Dieu - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; former leaders of the Provincial People's Committee, leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism through the periods.
Speaking at reviewing the tradition of 80 years of building and maturing of the Cultural sector (now the Culture, Sports and Tourism sector), Ms. Nguyen Thi Uyen Trang - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dong Thap province said that the Vietnamese Cultural sector in general and Dong Thap province in particular have affirmed their especially important role in preserving national identity, fostering patriotism, aspiration to rise up, breathing life into every road and street corner; making great contributions to the development of the homeland and the country, leaving a strong impression in each period of national history.
On behalf of the leaders of the Provincial People's Committee, Vice Chairman of the Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee Huynh Minh Tuan praised the achievements of the provincial culture, sports and tourism sector in recent times.
Mr. Tuan suggested that the Culture, Sports and Tourism sector needs to thoroughly grasp the Party's viewpoint, considering culture as the spiritual foundation of society, both a goal and a driving force for development. This does not stop at awareness, but must be transformed into specific actions, each project, each program, each activity must consider culture as the soul, the spiritual strength to create long-term vitality. Culture is not left unused for development but is a factor that creates the sustainability and unique identity of Dong Thap.
The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee proposed to continue to preserve and further promote the traditional cultural values, revolutionary historical relics, associated with developing typical tourism in the province; focus on developing grassroots cultural life, building a healthy cultural environment, nurturing personality, beautiful lifestyle in the community, etc.
On this occasion, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism honored 40 individuals and groups with outstanding achievements in the activities of the Culture, Sports and Tourism sector of Dong Thap province.
