Recently, Nui Beo Coal Joint Stock Company, under the Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group (TKV), has increased the bonus levels for units and individuals who introduce people to work as miners or study to work as miners at the company.
Accordingly, introducing 1 miner to work will be rewarded with 5 million VND, previously 3 million VND; introducing 1 person who registers to study as a miner will be rewarded with 3 million VND/admission application, previously only 1 million VND/appraisal.
According to Mr. Nguyen Tien Nhuong - Chairman of the Trade Union of Nui Beo Coal Joint Stock Company - this is just one of the solutions to attract miners who are lacking in most underground coal mining companies.
In addition to continuing to invite young people to register to study as miners, with many preferential support policies throughout the learning process, the company also wants to invite those who have worked as miners but then quit the profession for a while to return.
"If this subject is recruited, it can be done immediately, without losing training" - Mr. Nhuong said.
However, in the first 6 months of the year, this company only recruited 129 students and recruited 79 workers, while the demand was very high.
Currently, the search for miners in this form is also being applied by some underground coal mining companies in Quang Ninh.

However, the effectiveness is still limited. The main solution is still to coordinate with the Vietnam Coal and Mineral Industries College to promote propaganda and admission information to localities, especially in the northern mountainous region.
For many years, officers and employees of underground coal mining companies in Quang Ninh as well as teachers, officers and employees of the Vietnam Coal and Mineral Industries College have traveled throughout the Northwestern villages to recruit miners.
Each trip usually lasts half a month, or even a month to convince future miners and their families to allow their children to return to Quang Ninh to study as miners.
However, according to the representative of Vietnam Coal and Mineral Industries College, recruitment is becoming increasingly difficult due to the increasing number of other job opportunities in rural and mountainous areas, while the work of miners is difficult, despite high income.
In the first 6 months of this year, this school has only enrolled 2,162 students, while in the same period last year, there were 2,470 students.
The enrollment target assigned for the whole year of 2025 is 4,430 students, but it is difficult to complete because the enrollment work in the first months of the year is often easier but has not yet reached the plan.
According to estimates, the number of new miners recruited annually is equivalent to the number of miners who quit and retire.
Currently, the average income of miners is always leading in Quang Ninh. In 2024, the whole TKV will have nearly 12,000 miners with an income of VND300 million/person/year or more. Among them, there are hundreds of miners with an income of 500 - 700 million VND/person/year.
