On July 27, speaking with Lao Dong, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Trung - Chairman of the People's Committee of Nu Ngam commune, Dien Bien province said that from April 2025 to July 15, 2025, in Na Com, Hin Phon, Huoi Chanh, Son Tong villages, there were many cases of stray Wolves attacking buffaloes and cows, causing heavy damage to the people.
Accordingly, in just about 3 months, the herd of wereps killed a total of 50 buffaloes and cows, causing damage to 31 households. The total value of damaged assets is estimated at nearly 350 million VND.
Specifically, Na Com village suffered the most damage with 23 dead cows (from 12 households) estimated damage of 164 million VND. Huoi Chanh village also lost 17 buffaloes and cows (from 9 households) with an estimated loss of 115 million VND.
According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Trung, the reason for wild Wolves' attacks is that the villages near the natural forest have decreased natural food sources. In addition, the raising customs of people releasing buffalo, cow and barn is not solid.
The Chairman of the People's Committee of Nu Ngam commune added that in order to help people overcome the immediate difficulties, the commune has requested the Department of Agriculture and Environment to consider advising the People's Committee of Dien Bien province to support the affected households with funds.
The total proposed support budget is 147 million VND, of which 3.1 million VND is for a buffalo/ goingose over 12 months old and 1.5 million VND for younger cattle.
Currently, the People's Committee of Nu Ngam commune is stepping up propaganda through loudspeakers and meetings to raise awareness of animal protection, while instructing households to reinforce barns and grazing cattle to control.
