Tri An by the largest hydropower lake in the South
Among the 10 new wards in Dong Nai, Tri An (area of 660.47 km2, population size of 51,757 people) has advantages in developing forest economy, ecological agriculture, aquaculture and eco-tourism, resorts associated with nature conservation.

Tri An Ward, located next to Tri An Lake, is one of the largest lakes in the Southeast region, oriented as a national tourist area. Tri An Lake not only provides water for Bien Hoa urban area and Ho Chi Minh City region but also creates conditions for the development of ecotourism and agriculture with nearly 13,000 hectares of water surface with 40 large and small islands, with a water boundary length of 50 km.

Tri An is also the gateway to the Dong Nai Nature and Culture Reserve, a world biosphere reserve recognized by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization). This is an important foundation for Tri An to develop towards an ecological urban area associated with biodiversity conservation.

Tri An with the function of developing new urban areas - eco-urban areas, reducing the housing demand for the central urban area. Tri An has tourism and resort products exploiting the landscape of Tri An Lake and the landscape of Dong Nai Nature and Culture Reserve. Tri An also has conditions to form centers for biodiversity research and health care.

DT. 767 road is a key traffic route connecting Tri An to National Highway 1, Song May Industrial Park, Trang Bom area, Bien Hoa of Dong Nai and Ho Chi Minh City.

Road DT. 768 along the Dong Nai River connects with road DT. 762 forming an important inter-regional route from National Highway 1K (Ho Chi Minh City area) connecting to National Highway 20, Dau Giay area, Dong Nai.
DT. 761 road connecting with Phu Ly commune, is a direction to Dong Nai Nature and Culture Reserve, War Zone D Relic, Central Department of Southern Vietnam, favorable for developing Tri An Lake eco-tourism associated with tourism back to the source.

In the future, Ma Da bridge will be formed with DT. 761 road connecting from Dong Xoai ward to help Tri An become a central point on the axis connecting the North of Dong Nai province, the Central Highlands region with the South of Dong Nai province to connect to Ring Road 4 HCMC to Long Thanh airport and Phuoc An port, Cai Mep - Thi Vai port.
Representatives of the local government said that Tri An becoming a ward is an opportunity to restructure the development space towards an ecological urban area, while mobilizing investment resources to improve infrastructure quality and people's lives.

On April 14, 2026, the National Assembly Standing Committee decided to establish 10 wards based on maintaining the original natural area and population size of 10 communes in Dong Nai province, including: Trang Bom ward, Long Thanh ward, Tri An ward, Nhon Trach ward, Tan Khai ward, Xuan Loc ward, Tan Phu ward, Loc Ninh ward, Dau Giay ward, Dong Phu ward.
