These days, the story of "communes becoming wards" has become a topic mentioned by many people in the suburbs of Da Nang, when the 11th Da Nang City People's Council, term 2026 - 2031, officially passed a resolution approving the policy of establishing 10 new wards including: Hoa Vang, Hoa Tien, Ba Na, Dai Loc, Dien Ban Tay, Chien Dan, Nui Thanh, Tam Anh, Nam Phuoc and Thang Binh. The new wards are established on the basis of maintaining the natural area and population size of the current communes.

Notably, before submitting to the City People's Council, the collection of people's opinions gave very high consensus results. Among 108,599 households participating in the collection of opinions, 99.48% of households agreed with this policy. That number shows that people not only receive an administrative policy, but also see practical development opportunities for their place of residence.
In Quy Thanh 1 village, Thang Binh commune - where the project to renovate and upgrade National Highway 14E is being implemented through the area, Mr. Pham Van Hung said that people have been waiting for this policy for a long time. When village officials came to distribute opinion forms, many families discussed very quickly and then agreed. "Infrastructure must be better, life must also change. People hope that roads, lighting, schools, healthcare, and services serving people will be invested more synchronously" - Mr. Hung shared.

In Chien Dan commune, the story of urbanization has appeared on new roads. Recently, the rural road connecting DT615 to Thanh Hoa village cultural house was solidified and expanded. To have construction ground, 17 households along the route voluntarily donated land and dismantled architectural structures. For people, the wider road not only helps to travel conveniently, but is also a sign of a urban space being formed.
Mr. Thai Binh - Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Chien Dan commune - said that when it becomes a ward, the locality will be more favorable in attracting industrial, commercial - service investment, creating jobs, and increasing income; and at the same time improving the effectiveness of state management according to the urban government model.
In Dai Loc, the emergency embankment construction site of the Vu Gia River in the center of Ai Nghia is being accelerated. The project not only prevents landslides and protects residents, but also forms a new riverside road, connecting traffic axes, creating aesthetics and expanding urban space. This is one of the specific examples showing that becoming a ward is associated with the requirement to invest in more methodical infrastructure.
Mr. Le Do Tuan Khuong - Chairman of Dai Loc Commune People's Committee - acknowledged that the transition from commune to ward will create an important legal basis for the locality to mobilize investment resources, upgrade infrastructure, shift economic structure and improve the quality of public services. "It is impossible to expect everything to change in a day or two, but this is the foundation for the locality to manage more effectively and create new development space" - Mr. Khuong said.

At the southernmost point of the city, Nui Thanh commune has great advantages in transportation, industry, and services. People expect that when it becomes a ward, Nui Thanh will be invested more synchronously to promote the role of a key urban area, creating more jobs for local workers. At the same time, they want the urbanization process to go hand in hand with preserving identity.
According to Chairman of Da Nang City People's Council Nguyen Duc Dung, the approval of the policy of establishing new wards shows the determination of the entire political system in promoting urbanization, improving management quality and serving people.
