Heavy rain lasted for many days, causing all 16 neighborhoods of Quy Nhon Bac ward (Gia Lai province) to be submerged in floodwaters, many places were flooded up to 3m deep, isolating more than ten thousand households. The neighborhoods south of Dao Tan Street and north of Hung Vuong Street are the most severely affected areas.

According to the People's Committee of Quy Nhon Bac Ward, more than 10,000 households were flooded. The authorities have urgently evacuated more than 3,000 households to safety. In the landslide area of Hon Cha mountain, the ward also organized the evacuation of nearly 40 households to avoid danger.
On the night of November 18 and early morning of November 19, the forces of the Provincial Military Command, Gia Lai Provincial Police and the authorities of Quy Nhon Bac Ward deployed forces to approach each deeply flooded point and area at risk of landslides. armored vehicles, rescue boats and mobile forces were continuously dispatched to evacuate people from dangerous areas.

Ms. Tran Thi Nhu Hoa - Secretary of the Party Committee of Quy Nhon Bac Ward - said that by 7:00 a.m. on November 19, the entire ward was deeply submerged in floodwater. The most severely affected areas are the old Tran Quang Dieu ward and areas 1, 2, 3, 4 (old Nhon Phu ward), where the water level rose to 3m.
"The whole ward was flooded, many houses were deeply flooded, people had to climb to the roofs to avoid the flood," said Ms. Hoa.

Ms. Cao Nguyen Phuong Trinh (residing in Quy Nhon Bac ward) worried: "My house - No. 34 Vo Trong Lo street - was flooded up to the 2nd floor, the water level was over 3m high. There was still 1 adult and 2 children in the house, we have not yet contacted the rescue team to be taken to a safe place.
In Quy Nhon Nam ward, heavy rain also caused 9 landslides in areas, including: Group 8 (wards 8), Group 1A, 1B (wards 12), Group 7C (wards 26), Group 20B (wards 27), Group 49 (wards 30), Group 50 (wards 31), Group 61 (wards 32), Group 17B (wards 23.). Since the night of November 18, the ward has evacuated 42 households with 148 people to safety.

Ms. Nguyen Van Tram (residing in area 23, Quy Nhon Nam ward) recalled: "On the evening of November 18, rocks and soil on Xuan Van mountain suddenly eroded, water carrying mud and dirt overflowed into my house. I have lived here for many years but have never witnessed such a severe landslide. It was too dangerous so I had to evacuate that night."
Quy Nhon Nam Ward has activated a level 3.1 flood response scenario (water level of rivers from Alert Level 3 plus 1m of historic flood shrines) according to the direction of the Provincial People's Committee. National Highway 1D through the ward also had many landslides, water poured down from the mountains, causing traffic congestion.

Colonel Nguyen Xuan Son - Deputy Political Commissar of the Gia Lai Provincial Military Command - said that the unit has mobilized maximum means and equipment, mainly armored vehicles and rescue boats, along with mobile forces to deeply flooded areas to carry out rescue work.
"Currently, a working group is urgently evacuating people in Luat Le village (Tuy Phuoc commune) to a safe place due to suspicions of the risk of flood protection dike breaches," Colonel Son informed.
Faced with dangerous developments, on the afternoon of November 18, the Chairman of the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee issued an urgent telegram, requesting heads of departments, branches and 58 communes and wards in the eastern part of the province to immediately activate the level 3.1 flood response scenario; at the same time, resolutely evacuate people from low-lying areas, along rivers and streams and areas at risk of landslides.
