At noon on September 17, information from the People's Committee of Lao Bao commune (Quang Tri province) confirmed that a serious accident occurred at a banana market in Quang Tri province, causing 12 casualties.
Specifically, the accident caused 3 people to die on the spot, including: Ho Van Don (born in 2001, A Doi commune, Quang Tri), Ho Thi Be (about 20 years old, Lao nationality), Ho Van Thua (born in 2000, Lao nationality).
3 seriously injured people were taken to Quang Tri General Hospital for emergency care: Ho Van Son (born in 2009, A Doi commune), Ho Van Pon (born in 1988, Lao nationality), Kham Pon (born in 1999, Lao nationality). The victims all suffered suspected traumatic brain injuries, broken bones, and multiple injuries.

6 other victims are being treated at Huong Hoa General Hospital, including: Ho Van Luoi (born in 1994, Lie commune), Le Van Phuoc (born in 1974, Lao Bao commune), Ho Van Lat (born in 1979, Lie commune), Ho Van Tung (born in 1974, Lie commune), Ho Van Phan (born in 2003, Tan Lap commune), Ho Van Tuan (born in 2004, Lao nationality).
Test results showed that the driver and the person accompanying him were negative for drugs and alcohol concentration. Quang Tri Provincial Police have blocked off the scene and are investigating the cause.

At noon of the same day, Major General Nguyen Thanh Liem - Director of the Provincial Police, directly went to the scene to direct the work to overcome the consequences and visit and support the victims.
Previously, as reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, at about 7:50 a.m. on September 17, a truck with license plate 37C-587.63 driven by Mr. Tran Minh Hoang (born in 1973, residing in Ho Chi Minh City), carrying Mr. Vo Nhat T. (born in 1977, residing in Dong Nai), was traveling on National Highway 9 in the direction of Khe Sanh - Lao Bao. When arriving at Tan Long intersection, Lao Bao commune, the car suddenly crashed straight into the market area, where many people were doing business.
