In 2024, the provincial Traffic Police force inspected 568,256 vehicles, detected and handled 95,890 cases, and imposed fines of over 237 billion VND.
Of these, 12,428 cases of alcohol concentration violations were handled, with fines of over 65 billion VND; 23,519 cases of speeding violations, with fines of over 72 billion VND; and 172 cases of driving under the influence of drugs, with fines of 1.9 billion VND.
According to statistics from the Traffic Safety Committee of Quang Ninh province and the Quang Ninh Provincial Police, in 2024, there were 407 traffic accidents in Quang Ninh province, killing 178 people and injuring 410 people. Compared to the same period in 2023, the number of cases decreased by 5.8%, the number of deaths decreased by 19.8% and the number of injuries increased by 21.7%.
Responding to the Traffic Safety Year 2025, Quang Ninh province is determined to synchronously and effectively deploy tasks and solutions to reduce traffic accidents in terms of the number of cases, deaths, injuries and traffic congestion throughout the province.
Speaking at the launch, Mr. Pham Duc An - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Traffic Safety Committee of Quang Ninh province - said that the traffic order and safety situation in the province in 2025 is forecasted to have many complicated developments, with the risk of being difficult to control. Especially during the New Year, Lunar New Year and festivals at the beginning of the year, due to the high volume of people and vehicles participating in traffic, the potential risk of traffic accidents is very large and present.
Therefore, it is required that all levels, sectors, localities, and socio-political organizations and unions seriously, responsibly, and resolutely implement tasks and solutions, consider ensuring traffic order and safety as one of the key tasks and include it in the annual work program and plan to lead and direct the implementation in a practical and effective manner.
In particular, it is necessary to focus on improving the effectiveness and efficiency of leadership and direction, including regularly checking and urging the implementation of the peak period of attacking and suppressing crimes, ensuring security and order for the Lunar New Year 2025, Party congresses at all levels and major events of the country in 2025. Local authorities at all levels pay attention to leading, directing, thoroughly disseminating, and requiring cadres, civil servants, public employees, workers and people in the area to strictly comply with the provisions of the law when participating in traffic, especially implementing Directive No. 35/CT-TTg, dated September 17, 2024 of the Prime Minister; strengthening propaganda on mass media, on social networking platforms; strengthening strict handling of violations, "no forbidden zones", "no exceptions".
