On May 21, the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province announced that Mr. Le Duc Giang - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee signed a decision to provide more than 167 tons of rice from national reserves to the people of Muong Lat district from April to June 2025 under the policy of supporting forest protection and development.
According to the new Decision issued by the Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, the province will distribute 167,173 kg of national reserve rice to households participating in forest protection and development in Muong Lat district in the second phase of 2025, lasting from April to June.
Speaking with Lao Dong, Mr. Le Duc Giang said that this is an activity under the policy to support sustainable forestry development according to Decision No. 5402/QD-UBND, not an emergency relief, hunger relief or rescue activity as some misunderstandings.
This time, 4,129 people have received rice support out of a total of 846 households/4,361 people in the communes assigned to forest contracts. The area of natural forests contracted and protected is 8,982.57 hectares, while the area of planted and protected forests is 99.98 hectares.
The rice is provided as rice that meets the quality standards of national reserves, packed in accordance with regulations and will complete the delivery before June 20, 2025.
The State Reserve Sub -Department of Region VII is assigned to organize rice transport and delivery in the commune center or commune cluster, coordinating with the People's Committee of Muong Lat District to carry out the right allocation, the right norms, avoid duplication of policies. The Department of Finance is responsible for appraising and submitting to the competent authorities for approval of transportation funds from the district center to the communes. At the same time, the Department of Agriculture and Environment shall assume the prime responsibility for inspecting the implementation to ensure compliance with regulations.
The People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province also requires relevant units to strengthen supervision, ensure transparency and publicity in the process of rice allocation; At the same time, clearly propagating this is a policy to encourage people to stick with forests, live by forests and protect forests, contributing to the goal of national sustainable forestry development.
