Ho Chi Minh City is recovering land from about 1,700 households to build Thu Thiem 4 bridge, Cat Lai - Phu Huu inter-port road, and expand Vinh Loc road, with a total investment of more than 20,700 billion VND.

On the morning of February 6, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council approved the investment policy for all 3 projects. These are all projects that play an important role in connecting the seaport area, Thu Thiem new urban area and the western and eastern gateways of the city.

Thu Thiem 4 bridge connects the South and East areas

The Thu Thiem 4 bridge project has a total length of about 2.16 km, of which the bridge section is more than 1.6 km long. The project is designed with a scale of 8 lanes (6 motorized vehicles lanes, 2 mixed vehicle lanes), with a navigation clearance of 15 m.

The starting point of the project is on Nguyen Van Linh street, the intersection with Tan Thuan 2 bridge (Tan Thuan ward), the ending point connects to Nguyen Co Thach street - North-South axis of Thu Thiem New Urban Area (An Khanh ward).

The total estimated investment is about 5,063 billion VND, using entirely Ho Chi Minh City's budget capital, divided into 2 component projects.

In which, the compensation, support, and resettlement project has a capital of about 1,385 billion VND, recovering about 16.7 hectares of land, affecting 136 cases (14 organizations and 122 households). 73 cases were completely cleared.

The construction of Thu Thiem 4 bridge has a total investment of about 3,678 billion VND.

Compensation work is expected to be implemented from the first quarter of 2026 to the fourth quarter of 2026; the project will start construction in the third quarter of 2026 and be completed in the fourth quarter of 2028.

Cat Lai - Phu Huu inter-port road

The project to build the Cat Lai - Phu Huu inter-port road is about 6 km long, with a cross-section of 60 m wide with 12 lanes, and a design speed of 60 km/h.

The route starts from Nguyen Thi Dinh street, directly connecting to the HCMC - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway intersection and Ring Road 3 HCMC (HLD intersection).

On the route, Ba Cua bridge will be built including 2 units with a total of 10 lanes, ensuring large traffic capacity for container trucks.

Notably, the section from Phu Huu port to HLD intersection will be built with an elevated road with 4 lanes, combined with 3 locations connecting to the low road, in order to separate the port vehicle flow from urban traffic.

The project has a total investment of about 8.782 billion VND, also divided into 2 component projects.

In which, compensation, support, and resettlement work has a capital of about 1,400 billion VND, recovering 61.31 hectares of land from 139 households and organizations, with 20 households being completely cleared.

The component project to build the Cat Lai - Phu Huu inter-port road has a total capital of about 7,382 billion VND.

Compensation and site clearance are expected to be implemented from the second quarter of 2026 to the first quarter of 2027; the project will start construction in the fourth quarter of 2026 and be completed in the fourth quarter of 2028.

Vinh Loc road expansion

The Vinh Loc road expansion project (section from Tran Van Giau road to 2A road - Vinh Loc Industrial Park) is more than 7.1 km long. Currently, the road is only about 7-8 m wide, often overloaded and unsafe for traffic.

According to the plan, the road will be expanded to 30 m, nearly 4 times the current status.

The project also builds a new 31m long Ba Tri bridge and completes investment in two key intersections: Vinh Loc - Tran Van Giau intersection and Vinh Loc - Quach Dieu - Vo Van Van - Nguyen Thi Tu intersection.

The total investment of the project is about 6,870 billion VND, of which compensation, support, and resettlement costs alone amount to about 5,807 billion VND.

The project recovers about 23.83 hectares of land, affecting 1,424 cases (including 93 cases being completely cleared) in Binh Loi, Vinh Loc, Tan Vinh Loc communes and Binh Tan ward.

Compensation work is expected to be implemented from the first quarter of 2026 to the fourth quarter of 2026. The project started in the first quarter of 2027 and will be completed and put into operation in the third quarter of 2028.
