On February 4, Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee issued a decision approving the "Phu My 2 Bridge Architectural Plan" competition plan.
According to the decision, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee assigned Phu My Infrastructure Masterise Co., Ltd. to organize the architectural design competition for Phu My 2 bridge.
The contest aims to select the optimal design plan, with high feasibility, bearing the imprint of modern and unique architecture, and at the same time create a highlight for the new traffic axis connecting the South of Ho Chi Minh City area with the South of Dong Nai province (old Nhon Trach district area) and Long Thanh International Airport.
The contest is organized in the form of a widespread competitive examination, without limiting the number of participating units. Contestants are companies, organizations or design consulting consortiums with experience and prestige in the fields of architecture, planning, and bridge and road traffic; meeting technical requirements, the specific nature of the project and having sufficient professional capacity to design road traffic works and urban traffic planning.
Participating units will register for the contest, submit capacity dossiers, implement the design plan according to schedule and defend the plan before the exam council. The Council will evaluate, rank and select the most optimal idea plan to report to the exam organizing agency, submit to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee for approval, announce the results and award prizes according to regulations.
It is expected that the contest will be held about 30 days after the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee approves the competitive examination plan.

Previously, the Phu My 2 bridge project was started by Ho Chi Minh City on January 15, implemented in the form of public-private partnership (PPP), BT contract (build - transfer), with a total investment of about 23,186 billion VND, including loan interest during construction. The project investor is Masterise Company.
Phu My 2 bridge has its starting point at Nguyen Huu Tho street (HCMC), the ending point connecting to Lien Cang street (Dong Nai), the total length of the entire route is about 6.3 km.
In which, the section through Ho Chi Minh City is about 4.6 km long, the rest belongs to Dong Nai province. The project is located about 2 km from the existing Phu My bridge.
According to the design, Phu My 2 bridge has 8 lanes, including 6 motorized lanes and 2 mixed lanes; cable-stayed bridge structure, navigation clearance of 55 m - belonging to the group of works with the highest clearance in the country today.

For the bridge and access road section on the Ho Chi Minh City side, more than 2 km long from Hoang Quoc Viet to Dao Tri, a one-to-two-story elevated road is designed - a plan applied for the first time in the city.
This solution aims to limit site clearance and reduce planning impact in the context that Hoang Quoc Viet road has narrow lanes and is difficult to expand.
The project is expected to be implemented from now until 2029. When completed, Phu My 2 bridge will contribute to reducing the load on the existing Phu My bridge, National Highway 1, National Highway 51 and Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway.
Phu My 2 bridge along with the North-South trunk road (Nguyen Huu Tho) and road 25C (Dong Nai) will form a fast-moving corridor to Long Thanh airport.
