National Highway 13 accelerates site clearance
In the early days of June, the atmosphere of site clearance along National Highway 13, the section from Binh Trieu bridge to Vinh Binh bridge (Hiep Binh ward), became more urgent than ever.
At many locations on the route, workers continuously dismantle works, while people are busy collecting property to hand over land to serve the project.
According to Hiep Binh Ward People's Committee, the project affects 1,041 households. To date, more than 1,000 cases have been paid compensation with a total cost of over 6,100 billion VND.
By the beginning of June, nearly 100 cases had completed site handover. The remaining households are continuing to carry out procedures to receive compensation money, relocate assets and dismantle houses according to plan.

The project to upgrade and expand National Highway 13 is about 6km long (from Binh Trieu bridge to Vinh Binh bridge), with a total investment of nearly 21,0000 billion VND in BOT form (build - operate - transfer).
According to the plan, the project will select contractors in the third quarter of 2026 and start construction in the fourth quarter of 2026, completing at the end of 2028.
After completion, National Highway 13 will be expanded from 4 - 6 existing lanes to 8 - 10 lanes, with a cross-section of 60m and a design speed of 80km/h. The project also includes a 3.2km elevated road with 4 lanes. 2 underpasses at Binh Loi and Binh Phuoc intersections are also being built.
The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has requested relevant departments, branches and localities to urgently complete land acquisition, compensation, support and resettlement work before July 31, 2026.
The project is expected to be completed in 2028, helping to reduce traffic pressure at the Northeast gateway, synchronously with the National Highway 13 section on the Binh Duong side that was previously expanded.
Metro connects directly from Thu Dau Mot to the center of Ho Chi Minh City
Besides National Highway 13, another important transportation project is also expected to start construction at the end of 2026, which is the Thu Dau Mot - Tao Dan metro line.
Recently, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee approved the policy of adjusting the research scope of the Thu Dau Mot - Ho Chi Minh City Metro line in the direction of extending from Hiep Binh Phuoc depot to Tao Dan station.

The new plan helps the metro line increase by about 15.6km, increasing the total length to nearly 39km, bringing the tram deep into the city center area.
According to the previous plan, the metro line was about 23.3km long, starting from Pham Ngoc Thach street (Thu Dau Mot), running along Binh Duong Avenue and National Highway 13 to Hiep Binh Phuoc area, then connecting with Metro Line 3 of Ho Chi Minh City. This means that passengers who want to enter the center must switch routes.
The adjustment of the route direction helps Thu Dau Mot - Tao Dan metro become a direct connection route between Binh Duong and the core area of the city center. People will be able to move continuously on the same metro line without needing transit as in the previous plan.
According to the current research plan, the line has about 20km elevated with 12 stations and about 15km underground with 12 stations.
The project is expected to be approved in November 2026, started in December 2026 and completed by the end of 2030.
When put into operation, this metro line will not only shorten travel time between Binh Duong and the center of Ho Chi Minh City but also contribute to reducing pressure on National Highway 13, promoting socio-economic development.
