On November 15, Colonel Nguyen Van Son - Regiment Commander, front cabin flight (Air Force Regiment 940) and Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Hong Quan - Flight Chief, rear cabin flight (Air Force Regiment 940) - the two pilots who were involved in the Yak-130 military aircraft crash on November 6, recovered their health and were discharged from the hospital, after more than a week of treatment.
The leader of Military Hospital 13 (Quy Nhon City) said that at the time of admission, the two pilots had many minor injuries, were conscious, and had stable hemodynamic parameters. Immediately after that, the hospital conducted medical examinations to assess the health status and develop a treatment plan for the two pilots.
However, on November 8, the two pilots showed signs of acute rhabdomyolysis syndrome due to excessive exercise. The hospital held an inter-hospital consultation with Binh Dinh General Hospital and Military Hospital 175 to agree on a treatment regimen. Through the treatment and monitoring process, the symptoms of this syndrome have decreased, and now both pilots are in good health and eligible for discharge.
Colonel Nguyen Van Son shared that early next week, he and Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Hong Quan will go to the Air Defense - Air Force Medical Institute in Hanoi to have their overall health assessed again, then they will continue to return to perform their duties as assigned by their superiors.
"Today, both of us have recovered and have been discharged from the hospital. We are extremely grateful and would like to send our sincere thanks to the Board of Directors and the doctors and nurses of Military Hospital 13 for their enthusiastic and thoughtful care and treatment of us," Colonel Nguyen Van Son expressed.
As reported by Lao Dong, at around 11am on November 6, a Yak-130 training aircraft encountered an accident, so the two pilots in the flight crew, Colonel Nguyen Van Son and Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Hong Quan, parachuted out of the aircraft. The location where the two pilots parachuted to safety was in Tay Xuan commune (Tay Son district).
The Yak-130 training aircraft (serial number 210D) that had the accident belonged to Air Force Regiment 940, Air Force Officer School located in Binh Dinh province.
After nearly 13 hours of search and rescue, the two pilots in the flight crew, Colonel Nguyen Van Son and Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Hong Quan, were safely brought out of the forest and transferred to Military Hospital 13 (Quy Nhon City) for health care that night.
By the afternoon of November 8, authorities had discovered the location of the Yak-130 crash in Sub-area 428, Yok Don National Park in Krong Na Commune, Buon Don District (Dak Lak Province). By the evening of November 9, the Yak-130 had been removed from the scene.
