Mr. Phan Thanh Dung - Vice Chairman of Chau Thanh District People's Committee, Dong Thap Province - said that as of 10:00 p.m. on November 22, the authorities were still actively controlling the fire in the fierce fire at the rice husk warehouse in An Hiep commune.
According to Mr. Dung, at around 6:20 p.m. on the same day, a fire broke out in the rice husk storage area of Phuoc Hung rice mill (in An Thanh hamlet, An Hiep commune, Chau Thanh district) owned by Mr. Vo Van Binh, born in 1976.
Immediately after receiving the news and determining the complexity of the fire, the district leaders mobilized maximum forces to focus on fighting the fire.
In addition to mobilizing officers and soldiers of the Chau Thanh District Military Command and the District Police, the district leaders also informed the Sa Dec City Fire Prevention and Fighting Police Team to mobilize hundreds of officers and soldiers along with many vehicles and machinery to rescue and extinguish the fire.
However, because the fuel was rice husks and the area was large, the fire smoldered and spread quickly to many areas, making firefighting difficult.
Present at the scene, Mr. Dung urged and encouraged officers and soldiers to dismantle many locations in the rice husk warehouse area to lower the height to create favorable conditions for fire fighting.
According to Mr. Dung, because the source of fuel is rice husks and the warehouse area is quite large, it is not easy to extinguish the fire immediately. Therefore, the district determined to maintain the spirit of the force working through the night until the fire is completely extinguished.
