The incident occurred on the afternoon of August 7, at Phu Hai fishing port in Phu Thuy ward, Lam Dong province. According to initial information, the fishing boat with the registration number of Quang Ngai province, with a capacity of 500CV, is unloading seafood.
During the unloading process, the two crew members on this fishing boat were suspected of going down to the tunnel to bring the fish in, but had an accident and suffocated.
An ambulance arrived at Phu Hai fishing port, taking the two victims in critical condition to Binh Thuan General Hospital for emergency treatment.
Initially, the information of the two victims was determined to be Mr. D.N.A (born in 1977) and D.M.T (born in 1990, both residing in Quang Ngai province). Doctors are actively providing emergency care to the two victims.
The authorities have received reports of the incident.
According to some fishermen, fish tanks after long sea trips often have gas and heat, and must be properly treated before going down to the tunnel to be safe.
Previously, in June 2023, at La Gi fishing port (old Binh Thuan province, now Lam Dong province), there was also a case of a crew member suffocating while going into a fishing tunnel, killing 2 people and 1 person in critical condition.
