At 10:35 a.m. on September 28, at the Duong Huy Coal Company's mine opening, a gas incident occurred in the mine, injuring 2 workers and causing 3 workers of Dao Ho 3 Workshop, Mining Construction Company (the unit constructing the mine road for Duong Huy Coal Company) to be trapped.
Immediately after receiving the information, Quang Ninh Provincial Party Secretary Vu Dai Thang, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Bui Van Khang directed and assigned Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Cong and the provincial working delegation to directly go to the scene to coordinate with the leaders of the Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (TKV) to mobilize forces and means to carry out rescue operations.
At 12:30, the authorities took the two injured workers to the Provincial General Hospital for emergency treatment. At 1:30 p.m. the same day, the remaining 3 workers were found but had all died.
Currently, the health of the two injured workers has stabilized and are being treated and monitored at the Trauma Department, Quang Ninh General Hospital.
