On December 31, 2025, Hanoi organized a New Year's Eve event with the theme "Countdown 2026 - Opening a real connection" at the pedestrian street space in Hoan Kiem Lake area.
Hanoi also arranges 5 areas with a total of 6 high-altitude fireworks display locations combined with low-altitude and fireworks from 11:45 PM on December 31, 2025 to 0:00 AM on January 1, 2026. Fireworks display locations include: Two locations in Hoan Kiem ward (in front of the Hanoi Moi Newspaper office and in front of Hanoi Post Office); Thong Nhat Park coconut island (Hai Ba Trung ward); F1 race track (Tu Liem ward); Lac Long Quan flower garden (Tay Ho ward) and Van Quan lake (Ha Dong ward).
From December 24, 2025 to January 4, 2026, the Hoan Kiem Lake - Turtle Tower Art Lighting program will take place in the Hoan Kiem Lake area.
From January 1, 2026 to January 4, 2026, the event "Highland Market - Welcoming the New Year 2026" will take place at the Village of Culture of Vietnamese Ethnic Groups. This is an activity to introduce and promote typical cultural and culinary products of the highlands; recreate the highland market space; and perform folk songs and dances of the Kho Mu ethnic group, Mong in Huoi Mot commune and recreate the Praying for Season ritual of the Kho Mu ethnic group, Huoi Mot commune, Son La province.
Also during this time, the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam relic organizes the art program "Hello 2026" along with calligraphy writing activities, traditional education experiences themed "The Path of Taoism" at Van Hien Temple (Ha Mo).
The Thang Long Imperial Citadel heritage site brings solemnity with the re-enactment ceremony of the "Tong cuu nghinh tan" ritual and modern art performances. The Ho Guom Cultural Information Center (No. 2 Le Thai To) and the Ancient Town Cultural Exchange Center (50 Dao Duy Tu) also opened spaces to display the prehistoric collection "Returning to the Roots", the exhibition "Binh Ngo Spring Colors" and introduce the history of the ancient town's formation.
At Thang Long Imperial Citadel, the "Ky uc Cot Co" Tour will take place, combined with the performance of the play "Thang Long Capital" using 3D Mapping technology, bringing strong historical emotions.
