Uncertainty on the unfinished road
This route is currently behind schedule, the road surface is muddy, full of potholes. When it is sunny, dust flies everywhere, when it rains, stagnant water accumulates, the road surface is slippery, causing danger to road users.
A large number of local people have reported that this road has been under construction for many years but has not been completed, greatly affecting the lives and business of households on both sides of the road. "Every day I have to close my door because of the dust flying too much. The children returned home from school with mud in their clothes. One day, a motorcyclist fell while avoiding potholes. It is very dangerous, said Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy, a resident living right at the front of this road.
Not only affecting daily life, prolonged construction also causes pollution, loss of urban beauty and potential risk of traffic accidents. Many households hope that local authorities and construction units will soon complete the project to stabilize their lives.
The project has been delayed for a long time
The Nam Cao extended road is part of the project of the strategic national defense emergency road serving the military and people of the old Lien Chieu district, approved by the People's Committee of Da Nang City (old), constructed since October 2018 with a total investment of 116 billion VND. The project is invested by the Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (now the Traffic and Agricultural Construction Investment Project Management Board), divided into two routes with a total length of 4.5km.
Route No. 1 starts from the 7.5m intersection of Khanh Son 1 resettlement area to the 15m intersection of the new railway station planning area. Route 2 adjaces to Route 1 at Km0+47.28, ending at Km3+412.27 intersecting with Hoang Van Thai Street.
After a period of delay due to the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic, the project has been resumed since August 2023. However, according to the representative of the Management Board of the Investment and Construction Project of Traffic and Agricultural Works of Da Nang City, the project is still behind schedule due to problems in site clearance and weather.
"Currently, people are still covering some sections, bringing goods out for trading, and obstructing construction. In addition, unseasonal rains make the road surface wet, and it is not possible to implement asphalt paving as planned, this person said.
According to the plan, in July, the contractor will carry out asphalt paving. However, to ensure quality, the construction unit had to wait for the dry weather, and it is expected that the project could be implemented around the end of July or early August. Before paving, the contractor will also construct the sidewalk to ensure synchronization, because if paving first will make it very difficult to build the sidewalk later.
Currently, the Project Management Board has also sent a report to the People's Committee of Hoa Khanh Ward, requesting coordination in handling the situation of people encroaching on sidewalks and roads to ensure clean land, creating conditions for contractors to speed up construction progress.
People in this area hope the road will be completed soon so that they no longer have to live in dusty sunshine and muddy rain, traffic safety is guaranteed and the living environment is improved.
