According to information from the Hanoi Urban Traffic Management and Operation Center, in the first half of the year, buses served more than 211 million passengers, while the two Hanoi metro lines served about 9.7 million.
The total passenger volume transported by bus is estimated at more than 211 million, of which bus routes with subsidies account for about 205 million, an increase of 6.5% over the same period in 2024. Revenue from bus operations reached about 367.5 billion VND, up 31.7%.
Regarding the organization and adjustment of the route network, the city has adjusted and rationalized 23 routes, adjusted the route of 60 routes according to the new traffic organization and adjusted the bus schedule for 15 routes. Notably, 98 medium and small electric buses have been put into operation on 6 routes, according to the plan to switch to vehicles using clean energy.
Hanoi has also completed the bidding of 65 bus routes with contracts expiring in 2025, and at the same time, placed orders on schedule for BRT01 route and 5 pilot bus routes using electricity.
The total number of passengers using urban railways (2 routes: Cat Linh - Ha Dong and Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station) in the first 6 months of the year reached about 9.7 million, an increase of 76.2% over the same period last year. Revenue reached VND57.9 billion, up sharply by 632.4%.
The center also coordinates with Hanoi Railway Company Limited to regularly inspect the quality of services on the two routes. Thereby, 162 cases of passengers using incorrect tickets were detected, records were made and the operator unit was requested to strengthen inspection and handling of violations.
In the past 6 months, the city has installed and replaced 48 new model stop signs, added 18 signs, and relocated 25 stops to optimize the network. At the same time, 1,646 maintenance and repair of signs, stops, waiting rooms and signs at end points were carried out.
Regarding service quality supervision, the total number of inspections and supervisions in the first 6 months of the year reached more than 3 million, including 8,600 direct inspections. Thereby, more than 440 records were made, the amount of money collected from fines for breaches of contract is estimated at 82.7 million VND.
The center has also received and strictly handled complaints from the press, social networks and hotlines related to violations in public passenger transport activities by bus such as: transporting bulky goods, violating parking stops, picking up and dropping off passengers in violation of regulations...
