According to the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province, African swine fever will start to occur in the province from July 1, 2025. As of August 12, 2025, the epidemic has spread and outbreak in 8,964 livestock households, in 479 villages/hamlets, over 56 communes, wards and special zones; the total number of pigs to be destroyed is 60,076.
Up to now, communes have basically controlled African swine fever, however, some localities still have complicated epidemics: Son Tinh, Phuoc Giang, Dinh Cuong, Nghia Hanh, Nghia Giang, Mo Cay, Ve Giang, Long Phung.

Ms. Tran Thi La, residing in Liem Quang village, Dong Son commune, Quang Ngai province, said that more than 30 pigs in her family were infected with African swine fever and were completely destroyed. So much capital has been poured here but now it is considered left empty-handed with a loss of nearly 150 million VND. "I have been struggling to sleep these past few days, the damage is so serious, so now I don't know how to handle it, I just hope the State will help to figure out which copper or which copper I need" - Ms. La confided.
Similarly, Mr. Nguyen Binh's family - Ha Trung village, Son Tinh commune, Quang Ngai province also had 13 breeding pigs and 20 pigs infected with African swine fever, forced to destroy them, causing a loss of nearly 70 million VND.
"When the epidemic occurred, my family and some local livestock farmers suffered great losses, because we, the farmers, also ran pigs" - Mr. Binh expressed.
The dead pigs and the destruction were urgently carried out by the anti-epidemic forces of Quang Ngai province, and at the same time directed the rapid implementation of anti-epidemic solutions.
Mr. Do Van Chung - Head of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of Quang Ngai province said: "Currently, after the establishment of a two-level local government, some communes do not have Veterinary specialists, so we have put the Department's staff down to stand on the wing in the communes.
The authorities have also exported vaccines and chemicals to the communes for disinfection at the killing sites. At the same time, it is recommended to prevent people from littering and selling livestock to spread diseases."
