On the morning of March 21, the leader of Tuy Phong District People's Committee, Binh Thuan Province, said that after many hours of firefighting, by 11pm on March 20, the fire on the hill was completely extinguished by lenses.

As Lao Dong reported, the fire broke out on a hill with a forest in village 1, Phuoc The commune, Tuy Phong district. The fire broke out at around 8:00 p.m. on March 20, due to wind and many dry plants on the hill, the fire quickly spread.
About 80 people, including police forces, militia, security forces of Phuoc The, Vinh Hao, Phu Lac communes, Lien Huong town, Tuy Phong district forestry and military forces, participated in extinguishing the fire. 2 fire trucks have also arrived at the scene.
Firefighters deployed firefighting, extinguishing mountain-level fires, preventing the fire from spreading and affecting power transmission lines. At the same time, they divided the force to guide local forces to extinguish small fires and fires above the mountains, isolate the area, and build boundaries to prevent the fire from spreading.

At around 11pm the same day, the fire was completely extinguished. Initially, it was determined that the fire was mainly caused by dry grass fire, covering an area of about 2 hectares (not in the forest managed by forest rangers).
