The project of Embankment to protect production land, residential areas and improve the flow from Muong Pon 1, 2 villages to Tin Toc village, Muong Pon commune, Dien Bien district (old, now Muong Pon commune) was approved by the People's Committee of Dien Bien province under Decision No. 1191/QD-UBND dated June 13, 2025.
This project belongs to Group C, the total approved investment is 83.5 billion VND, the Investor is the Project Management Board for Agricultural and Rural Development Works of Dien Bien province.
According to the investigation of Lao Dong Newspaper reporters, on September 3, 2025, the Project Management Board for Agricultural and Rural Development Works of Dien Bien province announced the invitation for bidding for the Construction package (including reserves) of the project.
The above construction package was widely bid online, priced at nearly 76.4 billion VND (estimated at nearly 76.1 billion VND) from the central budget reserve supported in Decision No. 1660/QDTTg dated December 26, 2024 of the Prime Minister.
According to the project documents, the package will build a landslide repair embankment with a total length of 6,660.34m (including works on the route) in Muong Pon commune, with a land use area of 3.91ha.
In which, the embankment protects both sides of the main stream with a total length of 5,881.49 m and works on the route (8 culverts, 58 steps up and down, 1 overflow tunnel); branch stream 1 with a total length of 330.67 m; branch stream 2 with a total length of 448.18 m; branch stream 3 with a length of 99.56 m.
The package implementation period is 3 months, the minimum construction period according to the design is 10 years.
The project is invested with the goal of overcoming landslides and damage caused by natural disasters, stabilizing the flow, protecting 90 households, 160 hectares of rice fields, 2.5 hectares of aquaculture and technical infrastructure works in the area, contributing to adapting to climate change, stabilizing life, and developing the socio-economy of Muong Pon commune.
