On the afternoon of September 4, at the Ho Chi Minh City Command, the City Party Committee - People's Council - People's Committee - Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee (VFF) of Ho Chi Minh City solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the City's Armed Forces (LLVT) Traditional Day (September 4, 1945 - September 4, 2025).
Attending the ceremony were former President Nguyen Minh Triet, former President Truong Tan Sang; former Vice President Truong My Hoa, former Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh; Senior Lieutenant General Vo Minh Luong - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of National Defense; Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Tran Luu Quang; Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc, along with many leaders, former leaders of the Party, State, and Army; Heroic Vietnamese Mothers, Heroes of the People's Armed Forces, Heroes of Labor.
At the ceremony, Colonel Nguyen Thanh Trung, Political Commissar of Ho Chi Minh City Command, reviewed the 50-year journey of building, fighting and growing up of the Ho Chi Minh City Armed Forces. It is a journey written with feats, blood and bones and the silent sacrifices of many generations. 80 years ago, every historical page was filled with sweat, filled with tears and red blood of the citys children who vowed to contribute their whole lives to the Fatherland, emphasized Colonel Nguyen Thanh Trung.
The 80-year anniversary of the war is the oath: The Vietnam Youth Union of Ho Chi Minh City will always be loyal to the Party, attached to the people, and the core in all situations. Generations of officers and soldiers are steadfast and maintain the tradition of "Loyalty to the Unlimited City, Resilience, solidarity, discipline, dynamism, creativity, determination to fight and win". Entering the new phase, the Vietnam Air Force of Ho Chi Minh City is determined to build a strong and comprehensive force, master technology, promote the qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers", and consolidate the "people's heart position".
On this occasion, the President decided to award the Third Class Military Exploit Order to the Ho Chi Minh City Armed Forces for their outstanding achievements in training, combat readiness, building the People's Army, strengthening national defense, contributing to the cause of building socialism and defending the Fatherland.
The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has decided to award the Traditional Flag to the Ho Chi Minh City Armed Forces for their outstanding achievements in building and defending the Fatherland.
At the ceremony, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc emphasized that the city is moving towards an international-scale super city, requiring the armed forces to uphold their responsibility in the new period. He suggested that the armed forces promote the strength of great national unity, build a solid, self-reliant, and self-reliant national defense, combining national strength with the times.
The Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee requested the armed forces to be absolutely loyal to the Party, State, and People; build a revolutionary, disciplined, elite force, excellently complete tasks, worthy of the title "Three-time Heroic Unit of the People's Armed Forces".
On the same day, General Phan Van Giang - Minister of National Defense - sent a letter of commendation to officers, professional soldiers, non-commissioned officers, and soldiers in the Ho Chi Minh City Armed Forces on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the unit's Traditional Day.
