An Giang - The Death Anniversary of Heroes, Martyrs and People with Meritorious Services affirms the determination to preserve and promote the ethical principles of "Drinking water, remembering the source", "Gratitude" of the nation.

On July 27, at the Temple of Remembrance for Heroes, Martyrs and People with Meritorious Services of An Giang province (Rach Gia ward), the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of An Giang province solemnly organized the Flower Offering and Incense Offering Ceremony and the Commemoration Ceremony for Heroes, Martyrs and People with Meritorious Services to celebrate the 79th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day July 27. This is the first time An Giang province has organized the Commemoration Ceremony for Heroes, Martyrs and People with Meritorious Services, affirming the determination to preserve and promote the morality of "Drinking water, remembering the source", "Gratitude" of the nation, and at the same time will maintain this ritual annually.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee Le Van Phuoc affirmed that throughout the history of building and defending the country, countless generations of predecessors, heroes, martyrs, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and people with meritorious services have bravely fought and sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the nation and the happiness of the people. Grabbing that great merit, An Giang province has built the Temple of Remembrance for Heroes, Martyrs and People with Meritorious Services into a project with profound political, historical and humanistic significance, a place to express gratitude and honor those who have contributed and sacrificed for the Fatherland, and also a red address for patriotic tradition education, fostering revolutionary spirit for today's and future generations.

After merging the two provinces of Kien Giang and An Giang, the Standing Committee of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee agreed to supplement the list of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, Heroes, Martyrs and People with Meritorious Services of An Giang province (old), renaming it the Temple of Heroes, Martyrs and People with Meritorious Services of An Giang province. Currently, the Temple commemorates 2,560 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and 32,387 Heroes, Martyrs, and People with Meritorious Services, becoming a sacred symbol of gratitude and revolutionary tradition in the homeland of An Giang.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized that the 2026 Festival of Remembrance for Heroes, Martyrs and People with Meritorious Services is the first time it has been organized and will be maintained on July 27 every year, becoming a traditional ritual to continue to widely spread the morality of "When drinking water, remember the source", "Gratitude", educating the young generation about patriotism, responsibility to the homeland, country and aspiration to contribute to the cause of building and protecting the Fatherland.

In a solemn atmosphere, leaders, former leaders of the Party and State, leaders of Military Region 9, provincial leaders and delegates performed the flower arrangement, flower offering, and incense offering ceremony to commemorate Vietnamese Heroic Mothers; observed a minute of silence to commemorate heroes, martyrs and people with meritorious services; raised bells, raised drums and offered incense at the Main Hall of the Memorial Temple, expressing boundless respect and gratitude to those who dedicated their youth and blood and bones for the independence and freedom of the nation.

Before the spirits of heroes, martyrs and people with meritorious services to the revolution, the Party Committee, government, armed forces and people of An Giang province vowed to continue to promote the glorious revolutionary tradition; unite to build an increasingly rich and civilized homeland; better care for the material and spiritual life of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, relatives of martyrs, wounded soldiers, sick soldiers and people with meritorious services; promote the search, repatriation, and identification of martyrs' remains; and at the same time educate the young generation to live with ideals, know how to appreciate history, cherish peace and worthily continue the glorious traditions of previous generations.
