On February 10, An Giang Provincial People's Council held the 9th session (specialized session) to consider and approve many important contents related to provincial planning, public investment plans and key infrastructure projects.
The most important highlight at this session is that the Provincial People's Council passed a Resolution on adjusting the planning of An Giang province for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050. Accordingly, positioning to 2030, An Giang is a fairly developed province of the country, with a dynamic growth rate; playing the role of a service center, a strong marine economic center of the country, sea-island tourism and border economy; agriculture, fishery and river-sea-border trade logistics hub connecting Mekong with domestic and international markets.
The economic structure shifts towards modernity, greenness and sustainability, based on the pillars of high-tech agriculture associated with deep processing; tourism, trade and logistics services; clean industry, bio-industry; digital economy and sea-island economy. Socio-economic infrastructure is invested synchronously and modernly; economic development is associated with social development, improving people's lives, protecting the environment, adapting to climate change and ensuring national defense and security in the sea-island-border space.
In particular, the adjusted plan focuses on developing effective connecting spaces along the sea - island - river - border - urban axis. In which, Phu Quoc and Tho Chau are oriented to become international tourism and high-class service centers; Tan Chau - Chau Doc - Tinh Bien areas play a role as a driving force for border economy.

The target is that the average GRDP growth rate in the period 2026 - 2030 will reach 11%/year or more, the average GRDP per capita by 2030 will reach over 6,300 USD or more, total social investment capital in 5 years will reach 650 - 660 trillion VND, the urbanization rate by 2030 will reach over 50%, the multidimensional poverty rate by 2030 will maintain a reduction in the multidimensional poverty rate of 0.3 - 0.5%/year...
Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Council Nguyen Thanh Nhan emphasized that the Provincial People's Council unanimously approved 4 important resolutions and 1 report, which are practically meaningful resolutions, creating a legal basis for organizing the implementation of socio-economic development tasks, mobilizing and effectively allocating resources, contributing to promoting the progress of key projects and implementing the province's development goals in the first phase of the 5-year plan 2026 - 2030.
The Provincial People's Council requested the Provincial People's Committee to direct departments, branches, and localities to urgently develop implementation plans, clearly assign responsibilities, ensure progress, quality and efficiency; and at the same time strengthen information and propaganda work, creating high consensus among the people. The Boards and delegates of the Provincial People's Council continue to promote the role of supervising and monitoring the implementation of resolutions, and promptly propose solutions to remove arising difficulties and obstacles.
