On the afternoon of May 29, in Phu Quoc special zone, An Giang Provincial Police organized a Conference to evaluate the results of coordination in protecting security and maintaining border order in 2025 and the first 6 months of 2026 between An Giang Provincial Police (Vietnam) and Police of Preah Sihanouk, Kampot, Kep, Takeo, Kandal provinces, Kingdom of Cambodia.
In the past time, the police forces of the two sides have synchronously and effectively deployed many contents of working coordination, making an important contribution to maintaining the stability of security and order on the border line and sea area between the two countries. The Vietnam - Cambodia border line is maintained in a state of peace, stability, friendship and development cooperation, creating a favorable foundation to promote socio-economic development, people-to-people exchanges and improve the lives of people in border areas.
In 2025 and the first 6 months of 2026, more than 394,000 Cambodian citizens entered An Giang province to visit relatives, trade, travel, study and receive medical treatment. At the same time, more than 329,900 Vietnamese citizens exited Cambodia to serve the needs of visiting relatives, tourism, investment and trade.
In the spirit of solidarity, traditional friendship and mutual understanding, the police forces at all levels of the two sides always maintain the effectiveness of the mechanism of information exchange through documents, telephone contact and direct meetings; promptly notify and coordinate to handle issues related to security and order on the border line and sea area. At the same time, the two sides strengthen coordination in fighting and preventing conspiracies and activities of hostile forces taking advantage of border and sea and island issues to distort, incite, and divide the solidarity and friendship relationship between Vietnam and Cambodia.
In particular, the police forces of the two sides have proactively and drastically coordinated to fight against all kinds of crimes, especially crimes using high technology to defraud and appropriate property operating in the border area; regularly exchange professional information, coordinate investigation, and effectively handle many arising cases. The achieved results not only contribute to maintaining security and order in the border area but also continue to nurture the peaceful, friendly, solidarity, and close relationship between the governments, armed forces and peoples of Vietnam and Cambodia, which is increasingly strong and developing deeply.
Speaking at the Conference, Major General Nguyen Van Han - Director of An Giang Provincial Police emphasized that the results achieved in the past time are vivid proof of the effective, sincere and reliable cooperative relationship between the Provincial Police forces of Vietnam and Cambodia. At the same time, he expressed his wish that in the coming time, the two sides will continue to strengthen information exchange, coordinate in the fight against cross-border crimes, maintain a peaceful and stable border line, for the peaceful and happy life of the people of the two countries.
Based on the achieved results, the police forces of the two sides agreed to set out directions for cooperation in the last 6 months of 2026 with many key contents. In which, continue to maintain and improve the effectiveness of grasping the situation, exchanging, analyzing, evaluating and coordinating the handling of cases related to security and order on the border line; focus on fighting and preventing crimes such as criminal offenses, human trafficking, transporting prohibited goods, trading in weapons, explosives, illegal entry and exit and other types of crimes...
Based on the results achieved at the Conference, the Directors of Police of 6 provinces agreed to sign a memorandum of coordination on protecting security and maintaining border order in the coming time, showing the common determination in building a border of peace, stability, cooperation and sustainable development between Vietnam and Cambodia.
