On the afternoon of December 29, the Bac Lieu Province Hydrometeorological Station said that from December 30, 2024 to January 5, 2025, a new high tide will appear in the East Sea (the first tide of the twelfth lunar month).
The highest tidal peak at Ganh Hao Hydrological Station (Dong Hai District, Bac Lieu Province) is forecast to exceed alert level 3 (2.20m) by about 10 - 15cm, occurring on January 1 and 2, 2025. This is a strong tidal period with a large tidal amplitude, so it is likely to cause flooding in low-lying areas; landslides in areas outside the dike, along rivers, along the coast... Warning level 2 of natural disaster risk due to flooding.
At the same time, during this period, in the sea area from Ba Ria - Vung Tau to Ca Mau (including Bac Lieu sea area), the Northeast monsoon operates with quite strong intensity, which can increase the above negative impacts.
Localities need to implement measures to respond to high tides to minimize possible negative impacts.
