The People's Committee of Bac Ninh province has just sent an official dispatch to the Department of Natural Resources and Environment; Provincial Police; People's Committee of Bac Ninh city, Que Vo town.
Accordingly, on February 25, the People's Committee of Bac Ninh city reported to the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province on the situation of sand mining ships on the Cau River.
Regarding the above issue, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Provincial Police to preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies and units to urgently and thoroughly handle the illegal sand mining situation on the Song Cau section flowing through Kim Chan ward according to the proposal of the People's Committee of Bac Ninh city in the document dated February 25, 2025.
The river is 290km long, with a basin area of 6,030km2. The Cau River flows through Bac Ninh province starting from Tam Giang commune (Yen Phong district) to Duc Long commune (Que Vo town) with a length of 69 km.
The Cau River flowing through Bac Ninh used to be a hot spot for illegal sand mining.

In the locality bordering Bac Ninh, Bac Giang, in the past 2 months, the Traffic Police Department (Bac Giang Provincial Police) has inspected and handled more than 30 violations related to river sand and gravel mining activities for violations such as: No safety plan at the mine; using mining equipment without inspection certificates, registration certificates... administrative fines of about 400 million VND.
Bac Giang Provincial Police have required enterprises to sign a commitment to exploit the correct location, volume and use vehicles with registration certificates and certificates of inspection of sand and gravel mining.
