On December 15, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction urgently sent a document to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee proposing to arrange the site of the old Sen Hong stage area, in Area B of 23/9 Park, as a motorbike parking lot for passengers on Metro Line 1.
Currently, the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Volunteer Force is organizing a temporary parking lot in Area A of 23/9 Park to serve passengers taking the train at Ben Thanh Station. Recently, Ho Chi Minh City Youth Volunteers proposed moving the two-wheeled vehicle parking lot from Area A to Area B of 23/9 Park.
The Department of Construction proposed that the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee assign the Youth Volunteer Public Service Company Limited to organize a temporary parking lot in the old Sen Hong stage area to meet the two-wheeled parking needs of Metro No. 1 users.
The temporary parking lot is expected to last until there is a direction to reclaim the site to start construction of the park, or when pilot projects to exploit urban railway infrastructure assets and projects to exploit park infrastructure assets are approved and implemented by competent authorities.
If the plan is approved, people on Metro Line 1 will have to park their motorbikes in a location further away than at present, because Area B of 23/9 Park is located a certain distance from Area A.
However, according to the Department of Construction, the old Sen Hong stage area still has many advantages in terms of traffic connection. From the parking lot, passengers can move conveniently to the entrance to Metro Station No. 1; the surrounding area has been fully equipped with traffic lights and pedestrian crossings, ensuring safety and smooth traffic.
