The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction has just approved a project to build and install an elevator system at pedestrian overpasses connecting to the elevated station of Metro Line No. 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien).
The project includes 8 elevators arranged at 7 pedestrian overpasses along Metro Line 1, making it easy for passengers to access elevated stations. Each elevator has a load of 1,000 kg, including 2 stops.
Tan Cang Station (Thanh My Tay Ward): Install an elevator on the left side of the railway line, located on the sidewalk of Nguyen Huu Canh Street.
An Phu Station (Binh Trung Ward): Install 2 elevators, including 1 elevator on the median strip of Vo Nguyen Giap Street (old Xa Lo Hanoi) and 1 elevator on the sidewalk of the parallel road.
Rach Chiec Station (Binh Trung Ward): 1 elevator on the right side of the route, on the sidewalk of Vo Nguyen Giap parallel road.
Phuoc Long Station (Phuoc Long Ward): 1 elevator on the right side of the route, on the sidewalk of the parallel road.
Binh Thai Station (Phuoc Long Ward): 1 elevator on the right side of the route, on the sidewalk of the parallel road.
High-Tech Park Station (Tang Nhon Phu Ward): 1 elevator on the right side of the route, on the sidewalk of the parallel road.
National University Station (Tang Nhon Phu Ward): 1 elevator on the right side of the route, on the parallel road median strip.
In addition to the main items, the project also includes the construction of walking paths, railings, roofs, surveillance camera systems, announcement am thanh and supporting equipment to ensure safety and convenience for people when using.
The total investment capital of the project is more than 53.4 billion VND from the city budget.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction, installing elevators helps increase convenience and ensure safe access for passengers, especially the elderly, children, pregnant women and people with disabilities.
This is also an important step to improve user experience, encourage people to use public transport, and contribute to reducing pressure on road infrastructure.
The Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Board (MAUR) said that the unit will soon organize the selection of contractors and deploy the installation of an elevator system, expected to be completed by the end of 2025.
Metro Line 1, nearly 20 km long with 14 stations (including 11 elevated stations), has been in commercial operation since the end of December 2024.
According to statistics, the metro line currently has an average output of 53,440 passengers/day, with peak hours reaching 7,497 passengers/hour/way. To date, the route has served about 14 million passengers.
